'1000 mutations' now thats a lot emoticon . I really like the chaoswarrior but my personal favourite mutant is the SkavenPackmaster, you get all the mutations of a chaoswarrior plus pet rats  (which you can train and levelup if you can keep them alive long enough emoticon ).

Actually i've seen references to WFRP quite a lot recently, when did this come out? Was it before or after WQ.

Oh and while i'm here grogling mention a 'dog table' earlier in this thread anyone know where i can find a copy?

Re: Unofficial stuff

The original Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay book came out around 1985 or so, well before even Heroquest - back when Fimir and stuff were still around. I used to use just some of the Critical Wound charts from that and I like the original Realms of Sorcery book a lot (which came out in the 90's I think).

The publisher dropped the game around 2003 I think, and everyone thought GW would just let everything die as usual. Instead, they have funded an arm of their book company to bring a 2nd edition out, the first of which came out late in 2005 I think. The new stuff is all really good, albeit soft on rules sometimes, because everything is consistent with the way the world is now but at the same time some areas of the world are left to the imagination.

The only thing that still sucks about the mythos is that "The Warhammer World" is the WORST name ever for a world or campaign setting, and I have never read even once what the natives call their own planet.

Thanks for the info, while Warhammer is a crap name for a planet if you were to ask the natives i'm sure they'd all have their own different name for it. Its only modern humans who think globally anyway, usually peoples name for world is the same as that for land or home or empire.

Speaking of lands i've always enjoyed the way the Warhammer world reflects ours using the same map and everything, so you have the Lizardmen as the incas, the Bretonnians as the french the Empire as the germans, Hobgoblins as the mongolians and of course the DarkElves as the americans emoticon emoticon . Is it just me or does it seem someone at gameworkshop has a problem with america, the DarkElf background is even similar, they break away from an island nation who is also a great naval power, they are known for their slavery raids and strange obcession with sex and violence emoticon. Yes it all makes sence now, although i think the americans have a few less bloodorgies emoticon .

Yes, I agree, though perhaps the "Americans" aren't evil enough (or diverse enough?) :bad: That would be a funny Warhammer event if the Dark Elves started invading Araby in search of Weapons of Mass Magickal Destruction emoticon

But yeah, I like the world's atmosphere a lot. And now that Dungeons and Dragons has gotten INCREDIBLY politically correct and safe with their gender neutral pronouns and racism-free Eberron setting, the Warhammer setting stuffed with disease and xenophobia is even cooler.

Official only. Our WQ group is still pretty new with a few folks that have never played anything like this game. I could see myself adding in some unofficial stuff later on down the road.

Dark Elves as Americans?

This has been lifted from Tolkien's Middle-Earth setting. I forget the names etc., but in the Silmarillion a bunch of 'European' Elves are banished in the 'Americas' and develop their sea power beyond that of the Old World Elves. They are then more or less evil, although of course GW had to festoon their Dark Elves with skulls and spikes just to make the distinction clear! Got to love those slave arks.

I love when the words 'festoon' and 'skulls' are in the same sentence. Thanks for making me smile! emoticon

We play with the official warriors, and the semi-official warriors that were published in Death-Blow or sold via mail order only (Ogre, Kislivite Shaman, Halfling Thief, etc). We've included some unofficial treasures; but we modify them if they seem unbalancing. We don't play very often anymore, so we usually don't house rule the game very much.

I am playing an empire soldier in a PBEM game managed by Old Warrior... His name is scratchy. Our party has 3 empire soldiers, we're very strong... We don't have even a good healer...
For me he is very powerful
