Darting Steel Daggers

The thread about the Fire Bombs brought this weapon to mind and a question regarding them.
The text reads:
While using the Darting Steel Daggers your Warrior gets +1 Attacks and you do not have to roll to see if he hits his opponent; each attack made with the daggers automatically hits.
However, each hit will only do 1D6 Wounds, with no modifier for Strength.

Remember further, the Darting Steel Daggers are from the green Treasure card deck from the main/original box set.

Now my question:
Does the damage these daggers do go up when the Damage a character can do goes up?
1D6 damage is where all Warriors start including the Barbarian, Dwarf, Elf and Wizard from the main/original box set and this item is from the Treasure deck from the main box set.
It makes sense to me right now that the Damage would go up, but remember, this came to mind as I was looking at my treasure card index when dealing with the Firebombs.
I might be off in left field or this could indeed be "a flash of inspiration and understanding". emoticon

Okay.

Let the barrage begin. emoticon

Re: Darting Steel Daggers

We always interpreted the Darting Steel Daggers as simply doing 1D6 damage regardless of the character's level.

If you look at other weapons, you will note that the vast majority (if not all of them) do not state how much weapon damage they do. In general, they state a certain effect may take place, or that damage is +X more, etc, etc.

The result for Darting Steel Daggers is that they can be a useful weapon for a melee weak character (such as a wizard) at lower level, but eventually they use their usefulness.

Re: Darting Steel Daggers

I have always understood the Darting Steel Daggers and Darting Steel Blades in the RolePlay Book to only ever do 1D6 damage, regardless of the Warrior's Damage Dice characteristic.

I think of them as a really nice weapon to use very early in the game. Also, they may have some usefulness against some not-too-tough creatures in the mid levels when a Warrior is having trouble with Fear or Terror and a low Weapon Skill.

We base the Damage of the Darting Steel Daggers upon the Warriors' Damage Dice as Warrior Monk suggests. My interpretation of their ability is that they automatically hit. The Damage importance and clarification, we feel, is not in the 1D6 Damage part but in the "with no modifier for Strength."

This same notion came up with the Spiked Football & Spiked Cleets for the Ex-Blood Bowl Player.

Little Monk's reasoning here follows the same lines for this too, yes?

I was about to ask the same question.
The Wizard in our group has just leved up to level 2. The darting steel blades is his weapon of choice. Wanted to know if he should roll 2d6 for damage per hit or just the 1d6.

Also should we subtract toughness?

At the moment it seems its 2 to 1 that it is 1d6

RedDog & Old Warrior = 2
LittleMonk & Warrior Monk = 2
Looks like 2 to 2 to me.

Geoh, for that Level 2 Wizard, I would say 1D6.
He does not get a second die of damage until Level 5.
Then his Darting Steel Daggers can have 2D6 of damage.

Furthermore, the Toughness of should always be considered in the case of these weapons.
There is nothing saying to ignore Toughness.
