Warhammer Quest Settlement Boards

According to the eBay listing, Littlemonk and a person called Alberto 'El Mago de Madrid' (The Wizard of Madrid), both designed these, what I would call, mats (made from rubber sheeting), rather than boards.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Warhammer-Quest-THE-ULTIMATE-COLLECTORS-BUNDLE-/261762424492?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_186&hash=item3cf2419eac

These mats are designed, as you can see, to assist one in keeping track of what you have accomplished during the Settlement Phase of WHQ.

I finally received my set this last week.
I say "finally" because US Customs Service had them sitting for a while I presume, since they shipped, according to the Spanish eBay Seller on the 14th of January and got here after the 2nd of February.

Frankly, they are very well done.
The imaging is clear and the materials appear to be quality.
The pictures on eBay do not do them justice.

I have a question though.
Now, I know in the Roleplay Book there are these places to visit in a Settlement:
Alchemist's Laboratory
Alehouse
Dwarf Guildmasters
Elf Quarter
Gambling House
Temple
Wizard's Guild
Armourer
Fletcher
Weaponsmith
Animal Trader
General Store
Gunsmith

I am presuming here that the Training Ground on the mats is where the characters level up.
Is this correct?

The Character Packs cover:
Trollslayer's Shrine
Fighting School
Temple of Sigmar
Luigi & Salvatore
Noble House
Chaos Temple
Witch Hunter's Guild
Baron's Castle

CJ covers:
Ex-Blood Bowl Player-Blood Bowl Stadium
Outlaw-Black Market & Arms Trader
Bounty Hunter-Watch House, Arms Merchant

Deathblow:
Bank
Brewmaster-Brewmaster's Tavern
Lord of Aenarion-Shrine of Khaine, Shrine of Asuryan

Now, maybe because I am pretty close to being exhausted, I am just not remembering where to get the rules for these places:
Jail
Inn
Infirmary
Settlement Gates
Thieves Guild
Would y'all please set me in the correct direction?
Thank you.

Furthermore, did I simply miss where the other three Alehouses are from?
Please specify as to which rules apply to Alehouse 2, Alehouse3 and Alehouse4.
Thank you.

Plus, are my mats missing the The Kitchens and the Assassin's Guild or am I missing them on the mats myself?

Well, I still stand by to being pleased with the mats.
They are well done and I hope, to be really useful when running the Settlement portion of the groups adventures.

Re: Warhammer Quest Settlement Boards

Wow! Some of those locations I have not heard of -- or have forgotten. That is an amazing tool to have too!

Notice in the image on the ebay page that "The Kitchens" is treated as a Special Action, and seems to have a separate piece to represent it, along with "Burglaries". Maybe that is why it is not on the map, along with the fact that only a Halfling would visit The Kitchens. emoticon

The Training Grounds is not a Special Location per se, but I am sure it is there to represent the fact that a Warrior is in training, since it usually takes 7 days to train and they are not allowed to visit Special Locations during that time.

I will let someone who is more familiar (maybe Littlemonk) answer the rest. emoticon

Re: Warhammer Quest Settlement Boards

More info here:
Settlement Boards!

This project took quite a long time and we combed over every piece of Warhammer Quest to make the final version. In the back of our minds we hope that we didn't miss anything. Not that anyone complained, but to let everyone know why we didn't ask input from the community (200 heads are better than 2), is because we wanted it to be a surprise. And let's face it. We wanted to do it all on our own. There was enough disagreement between the two of us! But there is still that constant fear of.... "hey, you guys forgot...!" or "why didn't you add...?" One error almost made it into the final version, but we caught it before it hit the presses.

First off - as far as the Kitchens, there are Special Action boards that you can purchase separate, although i recommend the "Ultimate Bundle" pack, which contains everything (City, Town, Village, Harbour, Wood Elf Troupe and the Special Actions).

Second, the Jail and the Infirmary are places that you may have to spend at least a day in due to Settlement Events! Basically, ANYTHING that makes you spend a day doing something was included in these boards.

Third, the Inn was created for a GM, AND for a home-brew feature that i'm incorporating in the future...

Fourth, the Settlement Gates are where Warriors must sometimes wait until the next Adventure, after they've left (or have been thrown out of) the Settlement, while their companions continue to visit locations. The sidebar Dungeon Door for "Awaiting Next Dungeon" is for those who have to go to a Dungeon Entrance to wait for other Warriors (such as if they get separated during Traveling to a Settlement).

Fifth, the Thieves' Guild is a location that i have created in my Assassin revision, although it could be easily used for the Assassin's Guild that Matthew Francis originally created. I simply changed the name and what happens there. (Much like i did with the original Foote Locker location, opting instead for Blood Bowl Stadium instead.)

Sixth, the Alehouses are strategically placed around the Settlement map to represent the Tavern Type "Sophistication Value" from Gav Thorpe's CJ 28 article "The Low Life and the High Life of Going To Town." They make absolutely no difference, since 1 alehouse on the map is really all you need, but we felt this would be a nice touch.

Seventh, yes the Training Grounds are for some players to advance as listed in the RPB.

Eighth, although it hasn't been mentioned (probably because some may not have seen/purchased yet), the Kislevite Shaman and the Druid Special Actions have been modified from the originals to match a revision that i'm in the process of. They could easily be used with the original rules, however.

Warrior Monk is right. That guy in Spain prints out very nice quality and the pictures don't do the mats justice.

I recommend all the mats, because sometimes Warriors will get separated and some will end up in a Village or a Town while others end up in a City!

Warrior Monk, if you purchased the Ultimate Collection and don't have those mats (check inside the roll carefully - sometimes they're doubled up), then contact him and let him know.

For those purchasing:

Contact him directly from his website (tell him that Littlemonk sent you from the Warhammer Quest Facebook Page and ask for the 5€ discount!).

Warhammer Quest fanpage - if you haven't already joined this page.

I don't receive on money from the sale of these mats. A small donation is welcome (your discount?), but only one guy has actually done so. And that's fine. This project was done for the love of the game. We think they came out awesome!

If you donate we ask that you split the donation 50/50 between the two authors.

Suggested donation through Paypal: $5-10

I should also mention that you can download and print out your own version for free. The full-size boards are amazing, but for those wanting their own mini-version to print out on their own printer, the file is available on my board.

Yes indeed, I received all of them without a hitch.
Everything looks great.
Just had questions about the places I did not know.

Upon further reflection, despite what you posted earlier, might you have done the additional alehouses (due to a nag in the back of your mind) because there are modifications to the alehouse rolls in three of the CJ/BL characters?
Just curious.

Good day,

Do you have the house rules for the settlement board?

Or do you have the consolidated rules for the settlement board in one package?

Thanks!

Hello Emrick,

It is always great to have someone new sign up.
There will never be enough WHQ players, at least in my book.

I think you must have misunderstood something someone said here.

The Settlement matt only assists you in keeping track of what you do at a settlement.
There are no new rules, house rules or some consolidation packet other than the inn and the thieves guild as LittleMonk mentioned(goto Warhammer Quest Customized-see left column for link).
You still use the rules from the RolePlay book, the character booklets, Citadel Journal articles, Deathblow articles and so forth.

Sorry Emrich if this is a problem.

Thanks!

With all due respect, you guys made a consolidated board but still use a ton of book references left and right, that must be awkward.

Nobody thought of making a compiled package for all locations?

The settlement boards are awesome but eventually I will have to make a compiled handout if none exists for ease of playing...

Welcome to the board Emrick09!

In response to your post, I think the assumption was that anyone wishing to use the Warhammer Quest Settlement Boards would already have the source materials and be already referring to them while using any of the added characters and extra rules.

I do, however, like your idea for a compilation for all the locations' rules. It would likely end up being a fair-sized booklet though, with quite a number of pages (maybe at least 30 to 40 pages -- just sort of guessing here) of special rules for the characters' Special Locations.

Easy, go to town, get the binder out. I'm still going through the rules and learning. It may be while before I compile everything.
