Re: The Halfling Debate

So were all agreed then?

The Halfling is the best warrior not only in Warhammer Quest but in the entire universe!

Re: The Halfling Debate

How would you interpret this skill i can't figure out what effect it actually has.

55 Skill - Move Silently
The Halfling's stealthy walk allows him to spy on Monsters that are ahead of the Warriors in the dungeon.
Level....No. Times/Adventure...Success Roll
Novice........1.....5+
Champion..1.....4+
Hero..........2.....4+
Lord..........2.....3+

There's already a Scout skill
Every time the Halfling's exploration shows a Dungeon Room, roll a dice. On a roll of a 6 turn over the next Event card to see what is in the room. You do not have to resolve the Event until you enter the room. Place the card on the board as a reminder.

so i assume it doesn't mean that.

I'm thinking of interpreting it as the Halfling getting an Ambush attack after the monsters are placed from a non-Unexpected Event.
Any opinions welcome.

Re: The Halfling Debate

Hmmm.... I have never paid much attention to this skill yet. Perhaps I never had a Halfling Thief who had it!

I think it might have more use in a GMed game with full Roleplay Rules in effect.

Other than that, I am inclined to say that it lets the Halfling Thief tell what the next group of monsters will be regardless of whether they are generated from a room or from an Unexpected Event. So, in the case of a room, I would think it gives him another chance to find out what the event will be IF his Scout skill fails.

However, I think this skill might not have been thoroughly thought out. Or, perhaps the creator of this character jotted down the practical effect of this skill, but it never got entirely into the final publication.

Re: The Halfling Debate

Ok i've decide on my version of this skill which is:

55 Skill - Move Silently
The Halfling's stealthy walk allows him to spy on Monsters that are ahead of the Warriors in the dungeon. Roll before entering a room, if successful in the Monster Phase after entering, if its an E event resolve as normal. If its an M event do not place the Monsters on the board until the silence is broken. The silence on this board is broken when
a) Another Warrior enters the board.
b) The Halfling makes an attack. OR
c) Something detrimental happens to the Halfling while on this board.
No monsters may enter this board and the Halfling cannot be the target of Monsters or Unexpected Event’s while this section is silent.
Move Silently cannot be used if the Halfling is carrying the Lantern.
Once the silence is broken the Monsters are placed in the following Monster Phase as normal.
--------------------------------------

So there are ups and downs to this interpretation. It wastes time as the other warriors wait outside for an extra turn while the Halfling explores.
Also if its an E event it will definitely hit the Halfling, although that might be an upside in some case emoticon .

But I like the tactical possibilities of this. For example in the Objective Room you could send the Halfling all the way to the back forcing the spellcaster and ballistic monsters to be placed towards the center.
Risky of course since your half-ling is now isolated but...
Also in certain situations you might even be able to complete the quest without triggering the monsters at all... depending on the quest rules.

I think your version is interesting. I like that it seems to fit the name of the skill. emoticon
