Re: Imperial Noble & his Dagger

I wouldn't allow it for a couple of reasons.

First:
Follow my logic here. The Darting Steel Daggers have a single gold value.
Meaning they have no individual value.
Meaning individually they're worthless.
Meaning that the magic of the daggers must only work when both are used together.
Also if you allow them to be used separately then it must be possible to lose one and not the other. Or use one at the Alchemists and not the other.

Second:
A hunting knife, surgical knife, throwing knife and kitchen knife are all knives but that doesn't mean someone trained in the use of one will be equally proficient with another.
The daggers the noble trained with are probably of a particular weight and balance and i see no reason to assume one dagger is as good as another.
Also if you allow this then you must allow heavy daggers, poison daggers or any other variant you come across.

Thank you wreade1872 for your answer to my query.

<<EDIT>>

wreade1872, thanks again for taking the time to present me your thoughts on the matter.
I am sometimes a daunting person to respond to so I grateful to you for taking the time to give me your point of view on my question.
Thank you very much.

No prob emoticon .I probably should have mentioned that i was playing devils advocate above.
In practice i might totally not have cared enough to stop him using the dagger emoticon but since you already made that determination i decided to see if there was any counter argument to be made for not letting him use it emoticon .

Then it was a very good thing that I edited out the response I had.
I took you seriously and replied seriously.
That was partly due to my real life training in classical weaponry.

Fortunately (I guess), I decided the response was more serious than the board needed.
OldWarrior and Littlemonk should be pleased that I edited it out.
RedDogMT would be especially pleased.

wreade1872, we here and back in the day, in Maryland, are odd gaming groups.
We look at WhQ and other tabletops more as recreational tactical exercises than as just "games" so we approach them different than the overwhelming majority of gamers.
That makes some our situations I bring up here ones that no one else thinks of or even imagines - ever.
Makes us labelled as "disruptive" by some here and/or they say we need to "lighten up" about our gaming.
The fact of the matter was/is that most in both groups were/are veterans or active duty personnel in either the military or other government service.
Gives us a different perspective than most folks.

Oh well, life and gaming goes on.

People might realize that I am a rather strange peron, if they pay much attention to the things I have written about WHQ in the past! In both real life and in gaming I have a great tendency to try to be exhaustive in reasoning everything out. Sometimes I end up contradicting a position I had traditionally taken in the game, because my mind so often argues for opposing views.

I guess I am trying to say that I might also sometimes come across as "devil's advocate", though I usually try to be clear when some comment(s) I make is(are) not necessarily my current opinion(s).

I hope this makes some sense. emoticon

By the way, the Imperial Noble is one of my favorite official Warrior Packs. I really like that he can gets Sword skills as well as having a normal skill table. Potentially, if he learns all six of the skills from the Sword Skills table, he could have a total of 12 skills at Battle-Level 10!

I am proud of you, Warrior Monk. emoticon

By the way, in some of my not-too-distant past, I had been much more serious about my gaming than many people might realize. I have had to use much more restraint in various circles. If people only knew me like I have known me! lol

Thank you.
Thank very much.
I will be here all week.
Please tip generously on your way out. emoticon emoticon emoticon

On a more serious note, thanks OldWarrior.
I had my response all written out, essay-length like most of EdQuest's replies and then re-read wreade's stuff and decided this guy does not want to hear it - he has his own little corner and loves it.

Then I thought of Littlemonk's unbelievably unhinged happening over at the closed site and just decided it all was just not worth it - what if this new guy is like Littlemonk was that quarter?
You know, someone getting worked up over something that really is nothing and me just putting my feet into it no matter what I say or really mean?

With that thought, I just dumped almost all of it and put in the EDIT.
My point of view was not worth someone self-immolating like he did or what happened with Vince from Florida, both over at the closed site.

Do you really think you have hidden it?
Sorry sirrah, anyone actually reading what you write knows you are a serious player and person.
In addition though, you are also a very kind and considerate one too.

Well, thanks for the compliment!

I guess, in regards to the "serious gaming" idea, what I really mean is that I could be very argumentative. I feel like I was once upon a time sort of a "Doctor Jekell and Mr. Hide". Sometimes, I would get way too worked up (emotionally) over disagreements in games.

Just a little illustration: A good friend and I playing WHQ in 1995... He got frustrated with trying to keep track of the Dwarf's use of his 1/Adventure runes on his Great Axe (and/or other axes). Even though I think I was being logical in trying to help him, I also was somewhat short-tempered. While I cannot totally reproduce exactly what I said those many years ago, I know I showed some serious emotion when I said it. It was interesting that he accepted my suggestion without any qualms and got more organized with the runes! lol

Anyway, I really did get pretty serious there. Yeah, it was just a game, but I was probably taking it more seriously than I needed to.
