Friend in the way.Moving your Hero

I have a big prop. More than one time now i and others in the party have been held up. and crushed.

ie we moved in to a room.

And got the event were the top of the room is coming down on us,and we have one turn to get out of the room. But only the guy with the low Initiative makes it.

For the leader that has to go first cant move for every one is in his way,

pg 16 WARRIORS PHASE(Warrior may not move through a square that contains another model or obstacle.)
so if the leader cant move through his frinds he gives up his move right???? in the turn.

then the next H-initiative guy is in the same boat.He cant move for the slow guy is in his way so the Next in line is looking at the last guy with the low initiative.

Thinking if only the slow poke could go first. He could move out of the room ,getting out of the way then if i could move befor the leadr the 2nd H initiative guy could move then after every one is out of the way for the leader he can move.

Why is it not like Advance Hero Quest or the first Hero Quest if its a friend you could move past or through him. IF he is not in Hand to Hand the the space on the other side is not blocked?????

"Hay get out of the way slow guy"

What the hell is the slow guy doing in front? The cave in is always the entrance of the room, so the leader should be near the exit, ready to explore.

Anyway, the way I play it is like the rules of HeroQuest. If the warriors aren't doing anything, they may pass other warriors (as long as they're given permission, which may be fun at timesemoticon).

I do not like the 'instant death' stuff in WQ. I would suggest that this is a circumstance where you would be allowed to pass one another or at least make a pinning roll to do so.

Me and my friends don't play according to the highest initiative when moving, we just let the leader go first and then decide in which order the rest should go. O well, it happens that we follow the initiative rule, but under those circumstances that you describe, we would just run in panic, no order at all... emoticon

Those hero's of yours, should realy start talking to each other. "U hold him and I stab him i the gut" or "F.. the mountain is falling on the top of our heads, lets run". I do not think they have the time to "Hey, dont even try, Im first in line, so just u wait" kinda

We allways play it like a team play, where the High initiative player lets the dwarf go first if it suits his(I-guy)plan of attack. That could be, letting the dwarf kill an orc, so that the wardancer might get past (no pinningtest) and jump up a level to attack those Orc archers that for some reason keep hiting the wizard :S

Re: Friend in the way.Moving your Hero

SO do you have to go in Initiative order by the rules??

The thing is i my not have been clear

Was we moved every one in a room that was a 2 level.

Ducks in a line the Leader moved first in the room as far as he could go then the Elf then the wiz the the Drarf.

now the dwarf is the last one in the room,we rolled the cave in event so we had to go back out of the room.

Now the leader is the first in now he is stuck, with the Elf ,Wiz ,and Dwarf in the door in the way so he cant go,the elf has the Wiz and the dwarf in the way so he cant move

the Wiz is looking at the Darf in the doorway saying it your turn i cant move so the dwarf turns and gets out of the room and the last thing he see's is the room coming down on top of every one in the room as it the end of the turn.

But if the dwarf could move first then the wiz the the elf and last the leader every one could of made it out???

or if every one could move througth the space with a friend evey one could of made it out???

But the rules say you cant or can you?????

Normally you can't pass but certain circumstances (like the cave in) allow the heroes to panic and as always with panicing people it's every man, Elf or Dwarf for itself, so feel free to bend the rules a bit and let them either move out of turn, or pass friendly units. After all, if I had to choose between death by a minotaur or death by a cave in, I'm willing to weasel out of a cave in.

No problem

The way we play it and I always thought it was in the rules this way: Higher initiatives can, if they like, wait for lower initiatives to go first.
And even if this isn't in the rules, what would be the problem to play it like that?
But maybe I'm just not getting what your problem is?

I like the Higher initiatives pick to go first or last.

The problem is there are some in the gaming gruop that feel if the rules are not official published rules. thay are not legal.

Me I do not see a problem making a change to any rules if it works and not over the top for one side or the other.

If they get in your way, strike them down, my friend, and tell the grieving relatives that it was a minotaur.
There is stuff in the roleplay book about rolling a(n initiative?) test to allow a warrior to wait, or go ahead.
