posticon Mordheim / WHQ ?

Has anyone attempted to mix the two games out of the dungeon? Dueling and soforth outside in the arena for gp makes the game more interesting, I was thinking about combining characters from different campaigns & breaking out the measuring sticks for a mordheimish-type war. I found a character conversion sheet from mordheim to WHQ, but nothing in the way of mixed rules.

Re: Mordheim / WHQ ?

The quick answer is 'YES'. Basically, you just decide which kinds of Wounds to use (Mordheim or WHQ) and then go from there. There have been plenty of Mordheim campaigns published that use WHQ floor plans, and the Mordheim rulebook is where I go when my adventures go outdoors.

For example, say your party is exploring the ruins of Mordheim looking for a specific treasure. You'd set up Mordheim terrain and roll encounters as normal. There's where the fun begins. Monsters could be lurking ANYwhere, not just nearby, so just place them and then use Mordheim rules for ranges of bows, guns, running and charging, and Init checks for detecting hidden models. Spell ranges are a bit trickier but a good rule of thumb is printed in the old White Dwarf WHQ article "A Breath of Fresh Air" (or something like that). You may be able to find it at the WHQ Museum (links page).

For a large-scale Arena, using Mordheim Wounds system and crit chart (for faster pace), just assign each Warrior 1 Wound per rank: Novice, Champion, Hero, Lord. Strip them of excess magic items that would just get in the way (unless heavily outnumbered or you want them to be ultra-powered). For all other creatures use Mordheim stats, or Fantasy Battle stats...

Killer, I was thinking the process would give me a headache. I think we're gonna keep the WHQ hp system, that's the 1 thing I dislike in Mordheim.

So what about experience? The intentions were that one could play and level their Skaven, Orcs & Minotaurs etc. by getting exp with each successful attack made upon an enemy. We were able to balance the races out so that the heros don't have an advantage. But every exp system seems iffy I suppose. Thus far we got x(successful damage x enemy BL)= exp gained, where x = race dealt damage. Like 1 = goblin, 2 = orc, 4 = hero and so on. Kinda averages out a bit with the warhammer rpg book's required exp to level for heros (or gp or whatever). And reverse it for exp when surviving attacks. Ya, that seems to be our only road block then. I dunno, maybe it does give me a headache =P.

I just use the normal Gold values from WHQ. I haven't worked out a great conversion system from Mordheim. But conversions from the Fantasy Battle game are easy. Just multiply points X 10 and you'll get their gold value (exp).

Awesome. Thanks for the help. I feel bad spamming another topic so I had another question I was hoping to ask. I can't figure out in the Kislevite Shaman rulebook I downloaded from you guys how I go about getting my blessings... do I just randomize it? Or do I actually GET all those blessings?

The initial blessings he gets were not in the pdf as they were (apparently) in the White Dwarf/Deathblow/Journal article intorducing the character, though I haven't seen it.
I think he has to select in some fashion from the following.

1- Soul Bind (4)
Robe of Fire (4)
Cleansing Flame (4)
Burning Hand (4)
Storm of Rocks (5)
Fiery Shield (5)

Hope that's what you meant

ok then. I think I figured it out. Man I remember this game being easier. Is Kislevite Shaman a dwarf? Kinda looks like one. I heartily appreciate all of the help from this page I've gotten from my short time here. I'm that much closer to completing my mordheim/whq campaign. =)

Hehe, no, the Kislevite Shaman is a burly Russian-type human. Though some of the minis they made back then look sort of Dwarven due to the smaller 25mm-scale and the silly poses :-)
