I actually introduce critical hits just so that there is something for Warriors to fear. In other words, if your Dwarf loses a leg, even a Wizard's 35 Wound Lifeforce spell isn't gonna reattach it. So perhaps those two Blessings should be, not removed, but granted at a later date...nondisclosed_email@example.com (BassJam)Fri, 29 Oct 2004 07:44:40 +0000 Re: "Cultists!" spat the Witch Hunter...https://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p555554,from=rss#post555554https://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p555554,from=rss#post555554Glad you like her... The reason for all the blessings is really so that people will see her primarily as a healer. My initial intention was to have a Physician Character, like a doctor or chirgeon, basically, but perhaps with some arcane aspect. I figured that someone whose strength was healing ought to be able to decide between a risky attempt to heal a lot and a safe attempt to restore just a few wounds. I made the conversion to Priestess of Shallya pretty much on the strength of reading a Gotrek and Felix novel and thinkiing: hang on... Incidently, anyone notice how in those books Gotrek become a lot less insane? At least as far as descriptions of him go. Unless it's me who has become more insane. Getting back to the topic: it turned out that 'risky' and 'safe' are fairly misleading terms, as the worst that could happen would be that she'd fail the roll. Still, she needs to pick the Blessing that would provide the greater benefit that turn, based on the party's situation and on the power roll. Actually, looking back, I regret sticking Resurrection in there. I'm really of the school that says 'Dead is dead'. Hopefully GMs who agree will cut that one off the list. Anyway, I've blabbed on for long enough. Yeah, I'd love to see what ideas you have, though like yourself I can't really see an opportunity to do any writing (much less playtesting) much before CHRISTmas! PS Thank you for your imput!nondisclosed_email@example.com (thecustodian)Fri, 29 Oct 2004 02:05:49 +0000 Re: "Cultists!" spat the Witch Hunter...https://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p555553,from=rss#post555553https://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p555553,from=rss#post555553I'm already at work on the whole Morr cult (Priest, Monk, Knight Templar are my plans) but am in the process of finishing up a generic Monk template first. I don't have much time for this stuff these days which is why I'm taking so long to realize ideas. So if you really wanted to do a Priest of Morr I could send you what I have so far, rather than have multiple versions of the same class floating about. I was planning on tackling the Shallya thing after Morr, but no longer have to, as I really like what you did with the priestess. My only concern (which I posted in comments) is the huge amount of Blessings at level 1. Have you played her in a party? Is there going to be times as a GM that you regret her great healing abilities combined with an armored Dwarf or something? I think I would have started her with 3 Blessings and made the others attainable, so that they feel earned to the player. Also, I like the Anaesthetic Staff as it reminds me of the White Staff in Final Fantasy Tactics. :P Perhaps at the Shallyan Temple they can have one that heals 1d6 Wounds on a successful to-hit roll instead of hurting. Though I would price such a holy item at 2500 gold!nondisclosed_email@example.com (BassJam)Thu, 28 Oct 2004 09:41:33 +0000 "Cultists!" spat the Witch Hunter...https://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p555552,from=rss#post555552https://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p555552,from=rss#post555552Hello Having done the Priestess of Shallya (opinions?), I was wondering what other Priests might make suitable warriors. Certainly those of Morr might do, especially after reading 'Hammers of Ulric'. Any other ideas?nondisclosed_email@example.com (thecustodian)Tue, 26 Oct 2004 05:37:02 +0000
