Pit of Despair problems

Hi everyone, I've been around this site for a while now but have neglected to post anything. Anyway I have a question about the Pit of Despair spell. I have had a particular player enjoys this spell so much that he incessently casts it whenever monsters show. This cuts down on gameplay severely when in a monster room and there are two pits in the room. I was just wondering if anyone has a similar problem and suggestions to help with this problem.

Thanks emoticon

I took the stupid thing out of the game.
I AM THE LAW!

 :bad:

I found it too difficult to design quests that are well balanced with this spell around.
It's just no fun at all when your characters keep falling down the pit of despair.

You can use the rope, levitation spell, and the hidden passages rule to deal with it. You can also use the rules for backtracking (I think it is in the adventure book) for restarting a dungeon if you get blocked.

I have never had a real problem with it.

Or just keep having cave-ins that mysteriously fill up the holes...

If the Wizard is foolish enough to block the path back, the entire party has to make nerve-wracking Leap tests to get across the chasm he made. :bad:

Fortunately I'm the wizard in our party, though I accidentally blocked the way once... indeed we managed with the rope.
I can imagine one of our players doing something like that; don't think his wizard would last long then... no rules against hitting each other, are there?
