Re: experiance
And you won't find it in the rulebook. Experience points (or XP for short) is a houserule a lot of game masters use, instead of working with the gold value of monsters. The gold value still stands, but all warriors now work with rules of the Trollslayer. The gold of the monsters go to a separate table and now counts as XP. The warriors can't loose this gold, but they can't get raise it by selling treasure. This leaves more room for roleplaying. The reward is much more appreciated if the warrior gets 50 experience (alright! 50 XP!) rather than 50 gold (50 gold, whooptie fudgin' doo) or what 50 gold is actually worth (a bandage? I find ONE bandage? After all my hard work, I get one bleedin' bandage? What did I ever do to you?).
Of course, if you start working with XP, remember to change the gold the warriors get when they kill a monster, as they get the full gold value in XP now and you don't want a bunch of full armed level 2 warriors who normally would have been able to get all that stuff after much saving and missing out on level 3. So I would suggest that they receive the entire gold value of the monster as XP and find about ten procent of that value in gold.
Going up a level is simple, instead of paying the full price in gold, they just pay with their XP (like the Trollslayer), and (usually) about a fourth in gold (so going to level 2 costs 2000 XP and 500 gold).
I think this is about everything there is to know about XP (or at least what I know of it) and I hope it's helpful.
