Some issues.

Sorry for my annoyance and language and spelling. I need your help.
1) Let`s say that there are no monsters on the board and the leader is in front of the gate to the other section that has not yet been explored and placed. Then he proclaims - I explore and the GM places the tile. For ex. it is the guard room and it requires an event card say 1d6 orcs. Do i have to draw the card as soon as the wariors have ENTERED that new guard room... or the moment GM PLACES the tile and the wariors are still in the previous room.
2) About ambush. Do monsters with ambush atack
the same turn they are placed on the board a)in their monster phase this turn
b) atack as they are placed but before warriors phase and the wariors fight back the same turn in warriors phase and that is it for this turn
c)attack as they are placed but before warriors phase and the wariors fight back the same turn in warriors phase and the monster attacks once more in their phase during the same turn.
P.S. Hope i managed to describe the issue.

1) The monsters are placed in the monster phase of the turn where the warriors enter the new room. They however don't attack until the next monster phase. Monsters that are placed with an unexpected event, are placed in the power phase, when the 1 was rolled. These do attack in the monster phase of the same turn.

2) Monsters with ambush attack the moment they are placed. When they are placed in the monster phase, they attack immediatly. If placed in the power fase, they attack right away, and again in the monster phase of the same turn.

Hope this helps.

You mention a GM. My players often forget the part about Monsters appearing "after all Warriors are in a room". When I GM, I take full advantage of this by keeping Event cards secret until after EVERY LAST WARRIOR has entered. By this time, another Event may have been triggered (and they think it's just the room event)or the party relaxes its guard. This is great fun because the Monsters then burst from hiding and attack (not technically an Ambush) while the Warriors are spread out. This keeps the Monsters from getting clumped and easily wiped out by the bottleneck/AoE method.

There could be 75 Monsters in an Objective Room, but if the Warriors stand in a 2x8 hallway outside it with 2 tanks up front, the tanks weather all the damage, while Wizard casts Area of Effect damage spells into the room and uses Healing Hands at the end of the Turn to keep tanks on their feet.
The worst time I ever had was when my friend's Wizard got Carnival of Death and would take one step into the Objective Room and cast is every damn turn emoticon

So, if a party is having trouble, or has depleted many of their items, I'll do a dramatic presentation so they know what they're up against. If they've been ruling the dungeon, I make them confront the Boss or whatever before he snaps his fingers and guards step out from many alcoves in the room.

ahh ok, thanks a lot emoticon

just a quick thign though - if there are lots of monsters with magic and ranged attacks, they are still able to harm the tanks emoticon

Yes, and if I ever get around to improving the spellcasting ability of Monsters, I'll introduce an Area of Effect or two :bad: Then the game really would pattern after Age of Empires - clumping up and fighting back to back would be essential early on, but could prove a vulnerability against more cunning opponents later. However, as it stands, even though some Monsters have ranged attacks, holding a bottleneck works the same as holding a pass in a large-scale battle. Tactically it's much easier.

At early levels, Warriors are hard pressed to survive anything but at higher levels some are equipped to the gills and don't have much to fear from Ranged attacks as from those Mummies that are being kept at bay.
