posticon Newbie Questions

Hello! As somo of you migth guess I'm a new player who is slowly learning about this game. So far so good, but while testing (using one model at 1/4 monster rate)the game I came out with some questions.
I guess this questions are really dump, but well, who cares emoticon

A) "Don't you people ever dye??"
During my testing with the wizzard I got Healing Hand spell. As monsters keep killing me I keept using (after killed) the spell to recover one wound (as the book says "even one wound would do the trick"). I remember that the spells can be thrown at any time. So, how is this? The only way a wizzard can be killed is with lots of Unexpected Events? Do I have to regain all the wounds I lost?(i mean, supuse I have 3 wounds and suffer 5, I would be at -2, so I'll have to recover 3?) Or spells can't be thrown when you are on the ground?

B) "This Man has behavior issues!"
The Bersker skill, well its a silly question: after you killed five guys it gets on really easy. Does it last for the whole adventure, or for the whole character life? Do I have to start killing monsters again at the second adventure?

C) "Isn't something else?"
I got some copies of the official Adventure Record Sheet from a friend's White Dwarf. Its ok, but you have enought room to put all Bill Gates bank acount, and a description of eahc wound you get, while rather small space for skills and items who could use a good description on it.
I though of making one of my own but maybe someone knows a link with one that works, its nice, and its already made =P

D) "Thief!!!"
This is not a question, is more like a comment. Did you notice you can have the Hammer Of Sigmar as an invetory item? Wasn't it supossed to be held by Emperor Karl Franz?

Hope not to be too anoying with this, and please excuse my bad english.
Thanks for reading.

Re: Newbie Questions

Hi! Allow me to give you my interpretations

A) I would normally say that the Wizard can't cast spells when he's at 0 wounds. Many others have outlawed that spell, or made it have no effect on 0 wounds, as it leads to the issues you identify. Perhaps it's better to count the 'negative wounds', as you say.
B) I reset the count after each battle. In long battles he's more likely to go berserk, getting a chance at the beginning of each turn, as well as the bonuses from dead monsters.
C) I just get a bit of paper and do my own!
D) Yes, it's a bit odd! Especially as Runefangs are not on the list, and at least some of them are missing. I rename the Hammer of Sigmar 'Sigmarite Hammer', like it's the weapon of a great Hero of the Faith.

ahh, (B) is an interesting point -
i used to think it was for Life duration, and i always was rolling for beserk emoticon

but now we play it "per adventure".
(but i still keep a Total tally of each kill, just in case i find items which require experience of X kills etc.

Your mage can't cast spell if he's at 0 wounds.
Only the Elf Ranger Mage has a spell who allow him to resurect automatically.

Re: Newbie Questions

A) If the Wizard goes down to 0 Wounds he is unconscious, and the only thing he can do is swig potions (surreptitiously).

B) The Barbarian's Berserk skill resets itself between each combat. (when all Monsters are cleared)

C) We normally write the name of the skill on the Adventure Record Sheet, and then make cards for the skills, like the Wizard's spell cards.

D) Perhaps the Emperor lost it one day, while he was walking through the dungeon...

Re: Newbie Questions

Thank you all! Really! All of those were questions that didn't allow me to play correctly.
However, right after posting some other questions came up.

A) "How many space has that guy?"
Isn't there any space limitations when it comes up to Character Invetory? I mean, back in Mordheim you can carry: 1 body armor, two proyectile wepons, to hand to hand wepons, one shield, one helmet and how many "other items" you like.
Aren't any limitations in this game?

B) "When did it happend?"
When did Warhammer Quest stopped publishing and why? I mean, I know the obvious answer is that it wasn't a monetary succes, but I mean "why?".

C) "And what if..."
Somewere I read that Warhammer Quest was a bad copy of Hero Quest. Maybe there were some rules in Hero Quest that could be used in Warhammer Quest for (for example) character creation. Does anyone know something about Hero Quest?

I know i had some more, but I can't remember them right now. However, thank you for answering the previous ones, and hope you do the same with these.
If any other comes up, i let you know.
(hope not being annoying)

Re: Newbie Questions

Hi there, heres some thoughts from me emoticon

a) as far as i know - we can carry as much stuff as we want, although we played it that we couldnt buy tons of stuff in a single visit to a shop or a charm peddlar etc. (eg if we wanted a charm we could only buy 5 max.

i suppose there could be a rule whereby if you carry more than 3 weapons and more than 3 armour that you would be at -1 to walk but i havent seen anything official yet?

b) probably due to that, or they ran out of stock and didnt want to republish - or they sold off the rights before they could?

c)i think you might be wrong - i have hero quest, and i never got into it much but whq seemed to have all the right mixes for me emoticon

A) There don't seem to be any limitations to what you can carry, which eventually means that you end up carrying around 5 suits of armour, 10 swords, and a entiure backpack full of all sorts of other things. Which is, of course, quite absurd. But we don't let that worry us, it's all i nthe spirit of WQ. If we wanted a serious game full of rules we would play something else.

B) Well, apart from the obvious one that it wasn't making money, Games Workshop came up with a ridiculous excuse that they had lost all the documents on their computers and couldn't print it again. I find that very hard to believe though.

C) I don't really compare the two games, because they have so many differences. A good site for HeroQuest is here. Advanced HeroQuest was the next version up from HeroQuest. It was more complex and had more involved rules. If I remember correctly it took a bit of preparation, whereas with WQ you can just sit down and play it on the spur of the moment.
