Run out of event cards?
Hi, this always puzzled me. What are you supposed to do when you run out of event cards? We typically reshuffle them and go through the deck again, but this has two "problems:"
1.) We increase the chance of us getting killed
2.) If the adventure is successful, we'd have more gold than we would have gained if we just went through the deck once.
Just think of a level 1 game with traditional characters: By the end of the deck we probably already depleted the wizard's power store and used up the magic potion...if we pick up that 1D3 minotaur card again, we're in for some real trouble.
I can't say it's necessarily a bad thing - it really keeps the tension high. But I think the bad effects of reusing the deck might overwhelm the good. So I'm wondering, how do you handle this situation?

Re: Run out of event cards?
I think if you ran out of events cards, you shouldn't worry about keeping your wizard alive, but worry about how to kill him and stop him from bringing those unexpected events!
I never had that happen to me, but I think that reshuffling them is a good idea. After all, at higher levels you would use the Monstertable and Eventtable from the Roleplay book anyway, so none (or almost none) of the results would be the same.
If the Eventdeck is empty, just reshuffle. It's not anymore about what's on the card, but what the letter in the top corners is.

Re: Run out of event cards?
I don't think I ever have run out of event cards. Urm, quick answer, start drawing treasure cards instead! You must have been working hard to clear all those monsters, so now enjoy the reward.

Re: Run out of event cards?
Playing with text of the basic event cards (not using the event tables) we also often exhaust the deck. When fighting longer battles, the chance to roll a 1 is going better . And drawing one, the chance is great that it says "draw other event card". So this less than 20 cards are used up fast. We shuffle them back making a new deck.
Using the event-tables is more various, but more dangerous for lower levels too, i think. If you have bad luck, you will always fight some Minotaurs or Orc Shamans. Meanwhile using the card-text, you know, when you drawed 2 Minotaurs yet, there are no more in the deck until its exhausted .

Re: Run out of event cards?
I know this is an old post, but I thought it a good place to promote my Battle-Level One, First-adventure Monster Tables.
I think they are a good compromise between the original event deck and the full RPB monster tables.
Here is the location:
http://www.goodsandgoodies.com/wq/tables/Random-BL1-MonTab.htm
Remember, this is only for BL 1 and especially designed for first-time adventurers (warriors who haven't acquired a whoe adventure and one settlement's worth of extra stuff).
