Dwarf Fire bomb

How do u play this, if the dwarf misses. Do u scatter it 1d8 random direction like in bloodbowl or is it just gone? It would seem right to might bounce it 1d3 times in 1d8 direction or some thing like that.

As far as I was concerned, it just lands where the dwarf wants it to and does the damage. No BS roll is required which is why they are so dangerous. Multiple firebombs during one turn are devastating. Perhaps a BS roll should be made to reduce their effectiveness.

Re: Dwarf Fire bomb

Speaking from memory, I think it's assumed that the firebomb always hits. While this is okay if there's only one available as a treasure item, I have a player who hordes them to the last dungeon room and then goes on a frenzy. Some sort of test would seem to be in order.
Then again, someone mentioned the generally low BS of the Dwarf. Difficult. I'd be inclined to adopt a scatter dice approach. If you miss the BS, the 4x4 template moves one space.

PS Grogling, you got in just before me!

How far can these firebombs be thrown anyway? to any square in line of sight? Seems a bit rediculous. :S
I assumed (as there is no BS involved) the 4 squares are always adjacent to the thrower.

I wonder...

I think it's thrown in the same room or corridor (so to a maximum of 7 spaces in a corridor if the Dwarf is at the very begining so the blast template is still completely in the corridor).

As for hoarding them, I would say just one firebomb a turn.

I agree, if he misses, the template moves one space. But if he rolls a 1, it moves 1d3 squares (back and forth til it stops and exsplodes) I like the opportunity to let the the dwarf fumble and mess up. Hehehe, hi might even blow himself up

Re: Dwarf Fire bomb

Heh heh, when we had a room full of Chaos Warriors, and Minotaurs, and other nasties, we were grateful for as many firebombs as we could carry.

Having thought some more about it, i'd probaly be happy with being able to use 1 or 2 free per turn, (with any additional ones using up 1 attack). (no ballistic checks).

3 things though...
1) does a firebomb ignore toughness and armour?
2) and are there any monsters which take double damage from fire
3) (and if so, would the firebomb cause fire)?

(maybe the same 1 or 2 per turn for Flash powder), or 1 per person per turn.

Re: Dwarf Fire bomb

Mmm, I cant understand why you have a problem with the firebombs.

We love them, and we dont find that they are too powerful. Dont forget, that only the dwarf can get them, he has to travel to a town or city and has to find there the dwarf-guild. Here he has to roll an 8 to see, if they are in stock (and if he fails, he cant enter the guild until travelling to another settlement) and after all these rolls, he has to roll again a D6 to see, how many bombs he can purchase, so only 1 to a max. of 6 bombs can be purchased, depending on your roll. And these max. 6 bombs are always used up until end of the adventure, because you need them to survive, so no way to collect a lot, i think.

And yes, the bomb ignores toughness and armour, but only does a max. of 6 damage for every square, depending on your roll.

So, I would disagree using the poor BS of the dwarf or other penalties for throwing them emoticon, some of the monsters are much more unfair (like the vomit-rule of the trolls).

One told me, that trolls are fearing fire, the dont regenerate wounds, if attacked by fire, but doesnt say in the rules I think.
And I think that a fire-bomb is an attack causing fire. For some it should have its name. emoticon

Re: Dwarf Fire bomb

hi Matja, thanks for the information.
when you put it like that, it sounds fine to let the Dwarf throw as many as he can emoticon

One thing i was doing was rolling to see if they are in stock there, and buying that amount, and then "repeating" the same thing.. eg roling again to see how many more he has in stock etc.. (they were quite expensive though, but i think i had about 15-20 at one time emoticon (but we didnt chuck more then 2 or 3 per combat unless we were about to die emoticon
