Re: PC Game Warhammer Quest
I don't know if I'm jumping the gun or not, but I would check out those D&D licensed PC games from 1989 and such because they had a simple and fun interface that shouldn't be too hard to program. Also, you could make a parties and play solo, but my sis and I used to control half the party each since those games were turn-based, so that would allow people to at least play WHQ Hotseat...

Re: PC Game Warhammer Quest
lol, there were several old Hero Quest computer games too, but I don't know how much I recommend them. Stick with BassJam's suggestion of the D&D games.

Re: PC Game Warhammer Quest
Wow!
What you have done until now seems to be a great work, congratulations! Could u tell me what libraries are u using, language programming, for what platforms will be it able to run and so? I have some ideas to make a multiplayer application like that in an easy way. In fact, i had in mind begin to seriously make a WHQ multiplayer version , maybe we could help us mutually . What do u say?
P.D.: Sorry for my english , itsn't very good...

Re: PC Game Warhammer Quest
Thanks for your praise everyone!
BasJam, you're not jumping the gun at all, the old Pool of Radiance and Curse of the Azure Bonds 'gold box' games are the ones that I was basing the style of the game on already! It will be fairly straight forward to make a Hotseat version of the game, which hopefully should be fun having a few people gathered around the computer. And of course solo play will hopefully be a lot easier as well.
As for the Heroquest games, they were, well, not of top notch quality, shall we say. let's just forget they were ever made and move on...
Kratzy, I'm using a program called Macromedia Flash to make this game in. It isn't a proper progrmming language as such, it's a multimedia graphics / animation / web design sort of package, so sadly my knowledge of C and C++ is extremely limited. Well, not existant in fact. Supposedly, the game when it is finished will run on the macintosh and the pc, so that shouldnt be an issue. I had to ask someone what you meant by 'graphic's library', so that was a slight indication of how dodgy my true programing skills actually are

Re: PC Game Warhammer Quest
The way to play my version ( in the case that it will be finished someday.. ) will be like a normal game, connecting to a game hosted by other player( with a IP address) or maybe it will be a good idea to connect to a server that have a list with all the actual games and players connected. I dont see the networkig part too hard. I see much harder to code all the different spells, rules, treasures and special abilities of the monsters (from the roleplay book) under a common method.
Michael: dont know if u are an expert programmer but if u have done all of that I mentioned.. u are my hero

Ashen Shugar: at the moment we are testing a Warhammer Online game made by Bruno, who is still hard at it.
Try http://matosquest.free.fr/ and type in test for the Username and Password.
Bruno's working hard on finishing it at the moment.
Everyone Else: Well done, anyone with the remotest grasp of programming ability beyond the 'Hello World' thing has outstripped me.
