Bottomless pit

Here's question concerning the spell.

When a bottomless Pit is created by a mage/wizard. Does it 'kill' instantly ANY Creatures over it (flying, ghost, standing) on a roll of 1-2? Or would for exemple, a Bat or Ghost not be affected by it? (not sucked in).

Also, if there is no space in the room for a creature to 'dodge' the bottomless pit (roll 3-6), can the creature actually jump all the way into another Room (even if there are no adventurers there), and If YES, more then 1 adjacent room?

Thank you

Re: Bottomless pit

If I understand your questions correctly (an if I am remembering right) then
1) creatures who can fly, are etherial or have another immunity to pits and physical obstacles are unaffected (and I think this is mentioned specifically in descriptions).
2) No, well possibly.

0= empty square
x=pit
[emoticonoor

0000
00xx[
00xx[
0000

A monster could leap to any of the adjacent squares so long as it is empty.

M=Monster
J=Jumping monster (i.e. one in a pit)

0aMa
0MJx[
0axx[
0000
So here the Jumping Monster could go to squares marked a.

00MM
00xJ[a0
00xx[a0
0000
And as far as I am concerned, he should be able to do the same here.

But the Jumper can't go to the squares marked d here:
daMa
dMJx[ddd
daxx[ddd
dddd

Hope this helps (but I doubt it)... personally I hate that spell as it tends to mess things up.

I wasn't sure of the second answer myself but that was some impressive typing! I would probably allow certain other monsters to escape the pit even if they blocked in at the GM's (or gaming groups) discretion. For example, taking out three minotaurs because they are blocked in by goblins seems a bit cheesy. I'd say that if they make their roll, they manage to throw a goblin down instead and take it's square.

yeah i agree with grogling i also came across this resently but seeming i have no one to game with i said they could go to the adjacent room it says this on the spell card for pit of dispair. But if the room was empty enough or u could really be bothered u could organise so that the jumpin monster pushes the other characters back but this can lead to argument.
Or u could simply do as Grogling said but increase the roll for smaller monster to scramble out i.e. a goblin to get out 1 - 4 or a minoture the original 1 or 2
