Questions regarding advanced play

Hello fellow Quest players,

I've started a quest campaign with a few friends of mine. It's the first time we've played with the advanced rules and it's been a blast. We have a lot of stuff (original game, catacombs, lair and all the heroes except for the chaos warrior and the blood bowl player), but this has led to a couple of problems.

First, all the events in the roleplay book seem redundant since I'm the dungeon master (no dungeon card turning etc.). Does anyone know of alternative lists for use with a dungeon master, or do I have to make one myself?

There seems to be an inconsistency between the dwarf To Hit table and the one in the rulebook, (WS 5 is a 2 to hit for the dwarf and a 3 in the rulebook). I take it the one in the rulebook is the correct one.

Lastly, the leveling of heroes. This may be a little confusion on my part, but how much gold does it cost? From 1 to 2 is 2000 gold, but how much from 2 to 3. It says in the roleplay book that it costs 2000+4000 to go to lvl 3. Does that mean 2000 to go from 1 to 2 and then 4000 for lvl 3. Or is it 2000 to go from 1 to 2 and then 6000 to go to 3, meaning 8000 from 1 to 3?
Maybe I'm just reading it wrong, but I'm a little confused...

These are all the questions I have (so far...).

So if anyone can help me, I'd be grateful.

its what ever the price is stated in the book
2 grand for 1 - 2
4 for 2-3
the confusion u would be gettin is they give the example of the total it would cost it u weere to level up from 1 - 10 but im positive it is only the price it states not an adition
if u wanna cheat and there is new player who ur not sure if they will be comming back to play next time let them level up mid dungeon just take their gold
u can put a phat load of monsters in that way and they will find the game more funner if the can ease into the game rules

The to-hit charts come from Warhammer Fantasy, and the way they worked was that all hit rolls start at 4+, if the defender was twice your skill or more, you got a penalty to 5+, if the defender was THREE times your skill or more, another penalty to 6+. Same in reverse, If the attacker is twice the skill or more, 3+ to hit, three times the skill or more, 2+ to hit.

You stop looking up the to hit chart after awhile, once you realize this, or at least we did back in the day.

About the redundant events, you should make your own chart then, which includes a) all the events from the book b) all the events from the event cards that are not in the book and c) any events that your evil heart desires. That sounds like a lot of work to me, which is why I still use the cards. I make my own event cards from time to time, but I also roll a die and on 4-6 I refer to the Roleplay Book event chart. Nothing gets too old that way...

Also, I use a custom event chart that is different for when the Warriors are already in combat. Check the Rules section for both "Combat Events" tables from Documn and I. For added variety use both!

I selectively use a lot of the events by Brockhouse found at the Chronicles web site. I say much more about it in the topic about "Unofficial Stuff". Here's the link to the topic:

If you want, I can give you links to the tables and/or send you archived copies of the web pages.
