The 2nd edition prodject

Is it posible to make i link or a table or someting so that it is posible to get an overview over the prodjekt. Like what is done - and the rulechanges, what to do and maybe whom is doing it. Since I got into this in the midle of the work, it would be great to gathering some loose ends.

I think it also is easyer to see the consequenses of the rulechanges more easily this way. (more work, I know )

Re: The 2nd edition prodject

What we might want to do is make a special stickied thread.

In the sticky it has all the threads we are or have worked on. The threads we are still debating over we can just say TBD, and the threads we THINK we have come to a conclusion on we could put that final answer.

And just edit that thread as we finish a project.

Of course place links near each topic to the thread associcated with that topic to quickly switch if need be.

That sounds like a good plan, though only Andrew has the power to do it. I should get to work on it tomorrow though, so it can be ready. Just so we're sure though, and this is a question to everyone who's been here since th beginning, the rules we're clear on are every rule in the Basic and Adventure books, plus the cards, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF DEATHBLOW AND ARMOUR. Also, the Advanced rules up to but not including Settlements and Travelling, just to be safe. Am I right?

I believe you are correct...

And heck even if things do change we can simply edit the post with the newest updates.

Biggest thing is to keep it updated by someone that way we don't start grinding our wheels on topics we've completed already.

I think we msut revised first a bit few rules
- explore (if you're near the bearer of the lantern you can explore too). See webquest
- alone in the dark : sit and wait but what happens if a 1 is rolled
- escape table

By the way, when we have sythesis of change,we can look deeply if we don't forget anything

I would say if you stay alone in the dark, you must flee if there are monsters nearby, and also if a 1 is rolled.

What's wrong the escape tables, in your opinion? They were discussed earlier, no one voiced any discontent.

Re: The 2nd edition project

OK, I'm just observing at this point, and I haven't honestly read very many of the topics. However, I see an area where you guys can simplify! For example, in the discussion on whether or not to have events occur during Power Phase, I see the opinion to behave differently between Basic game and Advanced game.

This is far too confusing! The basic game of WHQ is the basic game and should stay the same. WHQ 2nd Edition will be MUCH easier to deal with if you treat it as a new and improved version of the Advanced Game only... Otherwise, you will end up with a slew of different rule sets available, and no one will be on the same page. In this case, the KISS rule (Keep It Simple, Stoopid) definitely applies, even though I don't often follow it myself :b

Re: The 2nd edition prodject

The problem with leaving the Basic Rules intact is that they too are broken. Why should we leave it broken and bleeding in the name of simplicity?

The point of the 2nd Ed is to replace broken rules with new ones, not put in new ones. It's easy to forget that after we've spent the past month or so creating new critical rules that have no basis in sense or mathematics. Though I can see how we've forgotten the point over all this time. These are the facts:

1) The Armour rules are being discussed because the ability to wear lots of armour makes you invincible.

2) The Critical rules are being discussed because the Deathblow is useless past level three or so. Coincidently, they might solve the Armour problem, but we're not sure.

3) I have other things to do with my life and this critical/armour test will never get finished if no one helps me, I think (considers writing computer program to do it for him).

What Basic Rules are broken? I've only ever had problems with the high level game design...

The basic game is the non-roleplay WHQ out of the box with the 4 main characters and sometimes a substitute or two...
