 Character Generation

Hello boys and girls
I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to look at my character generation rules;
http://wquest.free.fr/rules/R134_CharacterGenerationPart1.htm
http://wquest.free.fr/rules/R136_CharacterGenerationPart2
At the moment they're incomplete. I would like to know if you think that they're okay so far.
Or anything else you'd like to suggest.

Well, so far so good...
Looks fine to me, fun to create a warrior from scratch and not just roll for starting wounds.
Keep us updated!

I just read through them, they look great! We won't have a chance to test them out since we're on a break for the moment while some players play D&D... emoticon

Re: Character Generation

I think Character Generation is simply the future of Warhammer Quest. I hope that you'll give a maximum table for statistics when warriors gain level.

For the moment, everything seems fine.
I suggest to made limitation to spend point for not to have a killing machine in lvl1.
For instance we can't have a WS >5 in lvl 1.

I hope you'll made a spell system by college. I hope you'll continue to work on this rule.

Personnaly if you finished it and everything is working fine, I'll code an online character generation.

As always I am ready to help but my schedule is little busy

Best Regards

Re: Character Generation

Hopefully, part two will be here next week. At the moment, it will cover;
Feats- the miscellaneous abilities of a warrior, like trapmaster, forest walker and cave-vision.
Flaws- the warrior's failings. Racial restrictions, cowardice, and the ogre's favourite: Loud.
Skills- all of the skills that make adventuring fun.
Professions- basically, bundles of the above, plus some special rules and access to special skills and equipment. Includes trollslayer, knight and light wizard.

To expand on my post in the other thread, I agree with Bruno's idea to have Max Stats per level, perhaps modified by race (ie: a Halfling with S5 doesn't make any sense... but an Ogre could easily have it at BL3 or 2!

That idea is already worked into the table, so that an Halfling can't have strength higher than 3, while an Ogre has a maximum of five and a minimum of 3. I have basically made up the levels, then tried to balance them and sort 'em out with some practice.

If you think I have it wrong, let me know and I'll try to readjust it. Allowing WS or strength 5 at 1st level might seem extreme, but it isn't without precedent.

No, wait. Now I see it now, sorry. But how will it work for higher levels? In the same way?

Urm... good question... No, that table isn't intended to serve higher levels. I am not sure how leveling will be handled. At the moment, it's just first level/Basic game.
Higher levels will, nonetheless, still be elective- you will get points to allocate. Hopefully.

Re: Character Generation

Its interesting to see how you worked that out for chracter creation. I did something similiar but alas a bit different.

Way mine goes is you have M,WS,BS,S,T,W,I,A,LD(you know all the normal stats for warhammer).

Each stat other then W starts off with a minimal of 1 point. Players get 20 points to spend between each stat. One point can raise a stat one point straight trade. Now I put racial caps for 1st level characters so that you dont have a human with 21 M but only 1 WS.

Wounds is defualted to 1D6 for each race no matter what.

After that part of the creation is done the players then choose the 'class' they want. For humans so far I have Barbarian,Wizard, and Fencer. Each class gives a stat increase which could raise stat over limit(All stat increases are only +1). In addition the class the player picks also gives the special rules. So a player who chooses Barbarian class gets +1 S and the beserk special rule.

Once the class is choosen then there default equipment that class gets. So Barbarian from before would get a sword and furs to start the game with where as the fencer would start with sword and shield.

Only races and class I've worked out so far are Human(Barbarian,Fencer,&Wizard),Elf(Ranger,Knight,Mage), and Dwarf(Slayer and guardian)

EDIT: Bleh typing @ 1 AM is not a smart idea.
