Re: Character Generation

Sorry Peter,

It seems I misunderstood your rules.
If I took a Dwarf and spend all my point in BS.
I choose a warrior type.
I may have a starting WS of 5, are you right with me or not?
WS : 2+ 3 (eight points). As a Dwarf I have a bonus in strength, right?

You can indeed have WS of 5, but the cost should discourage people from taking it. I don't know if that's too much. The Wardancer starts with WS 5, but he is an elf...
It sounds like you understand me. If you do get maximum WS and BS, then you have 7 points left for other stats.

And yes, you get +1 strength automatically.

So this third point must be expensive to avoid to have killing machine.
I' would like avoir to have 2 stats at the maximum. With flaws we can have more points to spend.

I have written into the Flaws and Feats document (not released yet!) that points gained from Flaws are supposed to be used only in gaining feats and skills. I'm not sure if this will work. It does mean that no more than 20 points can be used to buy stats.

Hello, there!

I'm a new member and have loved WHQ for as many years as it has been in existence. emoticon I've been intrigued by this new 2nd Ed. and would love to take part in its inception.

On topic: I like the idea of this character generation system and expecially like the flaws/skills in part two. Do you think you could add some more "exotic" skills to the list? They all seem very combat based currently (not that that's a BAD thing!emoticon ), but it would be good to see more skills a player could use in roleplaying their character.

I found loads here: http://www.ourlair.com/slayer/archives/WHQ/Characters/

Keep it up people!

Cheers! emoticon

Yes... you are right to an extent. I'm really trying to work out 'basic' warriors, like the majority of adventurers would be. Later, I would hope to allow more exotic races and careers.
The feats and flaws were intended to provide most of the roleplaying flavour. What exactly did you mean by skills?

Anyway, as you will see the second part is literally just out. If you can generate a few characters and find if there are any flaws that Bruno or I have missed, that would be super.

Finally and first, ComicJam, you are very much welcome!

Feats and flaws are something that I've always liked as I play WhiteWolf games like Vampire and Exalted, and I think you've hit the nail on the head with them. I think if everyone here writes two, we'd have and EXTENSIVE list! emoticon

By skills I mean different things like all the stuff you do outside of the dungeon (or maybe in, depending on the place). Examples from WHFRP: Spot Trap, Speak Additional Language, Pick-pocketing, Manufacture Poisons/Scrolls/Potions/Drugs, Identify Magic Artifact/Plant/Creature, Haggle etc.

I guess these are better for the roleplay aspect of the game which not everyone likes...

Cheers! emoticon

Yes, I see your point. Most of those things will come under the roleplay heading in the new rules, when they're written, instead of in the character creation section.
When the rules are out, there will be Feats and Flaws to associate with them. Hopefully...

This looks good, Peter. Are we still waiting on anything in particular?
