Re: WHQ 2nd Ed - Deathblow Conflict

I don't know... would people use these? I am inclined to think that I'd only fight defensively if my warrior was an inch from death.
And what about warriors using a weapon in each hand..?

Re: WHQ 2nd Ed - Deathblow Conflict

I think I like to be able to change every turn between off / def. (3orcs, 2 heros)If ur attaced by two Orcs, I might fight Def. But if this should change and there now is 2 orcs left, Next turn, when everbody has had theyr turn, I would like to change back to off. That way it gets important to work as a team, try the pinning roll a bit more, use the skills to its full use aso.

I think I would say -1 to hit u (No crit)
With a sword and a shild it might give -1 to hit and u get the +1T bonus from the shield to. (No crit)

The standard is fighting with 1 handweapon, Maybe fighting with 2 handweapons should give +1A to the basic stat ??? (Only ever +1) U loose the benefit of haveing a shield (+xT) but u gain +1A
So if u have 2 magic swords, u have to declare when and what sword ur useing.

Ugh...using two magic weapons at a time.... For some reason I wouldn't want this to be possible for both rule and fluff reasons.

Rules: This would complicate the matter of which sword did the guy use, when did he use it, what functions can the guy use while dual-wielding the sword(Think blue steel sword from the treasure list). I think you get my general point.

Fluff: Magic weapons tend to have... internal spirits, deamons, soals, whatever that might not want to share the body of the user. Kinda like having 2 rings on being max since the magic of the two should compete with each other in a manor that might not be healthy for the user.

I think having ONE magic 1-handed weapon in one hand and a normal sword, dagger, whatever in the other hand would be fine.

What's the blue steel sword?

I'm not really happy with the whole 'choose to fight offensively or defensively'. Couldn't we just stick with something like the original game, where you are assumed to be offensive, unless you undertake a test to fight defensively. If it succeeds, you access alternative abilities?

Its the sword that can block a passage for as long as the player is standing there and doesnt move.... I might have the name wrong, but I thought it was called bluesteel or something to that nature.

I think unless you are using a one-handed and shield, then you may well fight offensively. It would be a great twist to the game, but in the end it looks like it would be overly complex.

Reason I think one-handed and shield should have more defensive skills is simply because the player will be able to be the tank of the group. Of course my defensive skills are still semi-offensive with the doing push back moves, stuns, etc.

Ah yes, I know the sword. I see your point, though I don't suppose having it function as stated when wielded with another weapon would be totally out of character.

Complexity is an issue that we have to struggle against. I definitely agree!

Then we should ignore defensive fighting, save for the usual Wizard's Staff and useless Roleplay technique? (I ain't givin' my attacks for no to-hit penalty!)
