Re: WHQ 2nd Ed - The Cards

The good thing about the Cards is when u whant your kids to learn the game.

1 pick a dungeon card
2 pick an event
3 Pick a treasure card, Hey its a .......

Than u ad travel. City, more roleplaying as they grow.

The basic idea for GW is to make a game that most kids can play. Basic and advanced

Re: WHQ 2nd Ed - The Cards

Blackheart Ranger

If you and your party are in a room or passagway and they roll a 1 in the power Ph and get Monsters for the event, now every one dos there turn of CC Hero's then Monsters at the end of the Combat.

Say you have one or two [sign in to see URL] you roll in the power Ph and if so do you get an event on the roll of 1.

so you could end up with more monsters or something bad.

or do you play out the combat tell all monsters are dead?????

Thanks

PS: We have been using the book D66 chart for events and hardly get any thing to heal up with,so 2,3 rooms/passagways in to the game after all the bad events or monsters were all down to 2to3 W and about to die.

how often do you get things to heal up with in the game.

the D66 for treasure or events do not help much in healing stuff.

I think the cards that we do not [sign in to see URL] have more spell or items to help.

Am i right in this thinking???

OR do we all get are B%ts kiked this bad every first Quest out with new Heros using cards or D66 list????

Thanks for the help Dwarf needs food

Re: WHQ 2nd Ed - The Cards

Blackheart Ranger makes a good argument for the cards, but the fact remains that we'll need to print them. It may be best if we provide BOTH resources, both scans of the decks and a table system.

Titanforge, your question about Unexpected Events during combat wasn't covered during the 2nd Edition debate, even though it darn well should have! At the moment, a lot of players will simply keep new events from happening during combat (simply dropping the Wizard's power to 1 as per the rules). Technically, though, the event is supposed to occur :S. I would advise not allowing it, as you already seem to have a problem getting your warriors healing items.

The D66 tables are designed for advanced games, ergo the players are supposed to have bought all the bandages/provisions/trance stones/stonebread/waybread/herbs they needed back in town. If you're having trouble making it, either introduce your players to the General Store or go back to the events printed on the card emoticon

The original treasure cards do have more healing items. Several people add extra healing potions to their treasure deck.

Re: WHQ 2nd Ed - The Cards

When playing with kids, siplicity and structure is very improtant, or they loose interrest.
When I start a new game with my kids, I lett them start with 1d6x50 gold, and we start in a town. That way they can by prov, aso, so they survives for a while. The surviving of the heros are not always the thing, eighter. Kids tend to loose they'r concentration, and they'r content with a "short" game.

Titanforce.
awn: Yes u might end up fighting new monster, AND the dwarf with the rope falls into a spiked trap, tries to klimp out and falls down again "och"..... LOL jupp bin there, done that ........

As for the roll of 1, I skip it sometimes, when they (kids) are low on WoU, and let them live a bit longer. I think its all about haveing fun.
When I played with grown-ups (long time a go lol) We stuck to the rules and a lot of heroes died. (that way we got to try all the extra packs we bought)
At a low level, the roll of 1 is hard, but at higher levels, (up to level 5-6, that is for me) when every bodys pockets is full of potions, prov ..... the "1" balances the game in a way.

O.. I roll one powerdice and one dice for the "1"

Hmmm... I'm starting to think we should make Unexpected Events in combat only happen at a cetain point? Any ideas, anyone?

We're horrible, do you know that? We forgot... The Cave In. This has to be fixed for the sake of T-Junction dead ends everywhere... should we just let the warriors dig their way out?

Or we could use the classic "secret door" the warriors find at the dead end, which leads mysteriously either back to the city or the other part of the dungeon. I think this is even suggested in the rule book somewhere..
