Re: WHQ 2nd Ed - Linking Games (what a concept)

Ok, I see what you meant now BD.

I just keep a record of stuff that has to be rolled for at the start of a turn like the Stupidity things, and make sure the players do it until they're used to doing it themselves. Because I also allow them to pay to be healed from serious injuries, they often only have to keep those rules in mind for the duration of one adventure or deep before they desperately seek out a temple to get the condition removed, at a huge cost of course. I think I've only had one player suffer stupidity in about 6 battle levels during one campaign. After they decided to accept the rules, they got a lot more tactical about staying on more wounds.

As to each different healing spell giving a different benefit to the downed roll, that would probably be the least confusing method to adopt. The wizard or whoever could even have a specific spell that actually just revived a downed warrior without healing his wounds maybe.

Thanks, Boyinleaves. I was more curious than anything, it's good to see it does work out with some people (scowls at his gaming group). Do you have these rules for healing the injuries? We should consider them as well.

Re: WHQ 2nd Ed - Linking Games (what a concept)

Er, my group really didn't like continually suffering stupidity or having only half a hand, which is why I allowed them to heal their injuries at temples.

I kept it simple, just requiring a straight fee for the healing based on their battle level. I generally kept gold pretty limited in my games so it was actually something of a difficulty for a few of the players to amass enough gold to get healed. Warriors would just go to the temple to get healed.

There was a great article in one of the Mordheim Town Cryers ages ago with rules for a 'doctor' who could be prevailed upon to attempt to heal warriors. I was sure I had the article somewhere but now I can't find it. I'm pretty sure it involved a 2d6 roll where a for example a 2 would actually kill the warrior, a 3 would cause more injuries, a 4 to 7 or so would do nothing, an 8 to 10 would heal one injury, an 11 would heal 1d3, and a 12 would heal them all and even increase a warrior's wounds or something similar. I've also seen such rules floating about for Necromunda, but I have no idea where to find them. If someone could get their hands on either, they would be a good starting point, I suppose.

It all depends on how complex you want to get. If you want injuries to actually mean something, there has to be some variability involved in the chance of the healing at a temple or a doctor being successful.

Anyway, I'll keep looking for my article, and see if I can come up with something more interesting myself.

Aye... almost every city in the Empire has a temple the shallala(I know I mispelled that but you get the hint). Those temples can range from HUGE temples to little huts.

Why does every city have some sort of thing for that one goddess you ask? Because that is the goddess of healing and whatnot...

There should be an option for heroes to visit the healers temple and possibly be cured of any illness...

Now as for how effective the healing is... Thats what fate has to do with it.

I've done a couple of quick tables for healing at both temples and physicians/surgeons, based on the rules for Mordheim that I finally found, and sent them to Bruno to put up.

This is pretty good, though we'll obviously need to agree on the prices.

Oh, and I'd add this rule:

"A Warrior must be injured to use these locations."

I know, it's nitpicking, but for those who don't know me, I am a member of the "Increasing of Starting Stats" Police force. We keep your stats down for your own safety *salute*.

Lol, er, yeah fair enough. Not much point trying to get healed if you're not injured, huh.

EDIT- to keep it all simpler then, maybe we should just make any wounds bonuses temporary ones. ie. either a bonus to Starting wounds for the next adventure, or a temporary amount of bonus wounds that are gone once they are used up.
