Re: WHQ 2nd Ed - Travelling and Settlements
Indeed it could. I downloaded a simple programme for making hex maps ages ago. I'll see if I can find it.
Presumerably we would do a map of the Old World. You could run several teams through it! You could do... well, let's stay focused for now.

Re: WHQ 2nd Ed - Travelling and Settlements
I agree, this could work out well. Let's see how it goes and move on to Settlements. How should our warriors now spend their days? (I'll bet the people at GW never would have bet that 1/4th of a single page (pg 18, bottom-left) would ever come under such argument!

Re: WHQ 2nd Ed - Travelling and Settlements
To come back on travelling (sorry, just got back from work), maybe we could put some mosnter encounters in it. The warriors find a wandering band of rampaging Orcs, Marauders or Dark Elves on their path that attack... could be an alternative for those Forest Goblins encounter...

Re: WHQ 2nd Ed - Travelling and Settlements
Yeah, I agree. More generic events.
Spending the day.
Well, Most of my thoughts in the past have been based around having a couple of bits of paper to represent the different quarters and moving warriors between them. In some, you can get certain shops, in others, you can find the Temple of Shallya, in others you can get access to a Fighting Pit.
In a day you can move to another quarter, visit a location, etc. You can do one thing for each Move point, except that you must generate at least one event during the day. If you wait, then the last event will be rolled off the 'going home table'. Otherwise, you can do one earlier (and a probably safer one) by going to the alehouse and rolling there.
I take it that folk aren't in favour of this more complex approach?

Re: WHQ 2nd Ed - Travelling and Settlements
lol, yeah. I think the point was to simplify this so we can get back to dungeon crawling. Travelling is fine because the Warhammer World is just as dangerous in the sunlight as in the torchlight, but settlements should be wrapped up as fast as possible, I think. Not without incident, mind... just quick incidents!
But don't pass it up, we'll have an optional rules section.

Re: WHQ 2nd Ed - Travelling and Settlements
These are all great, BHR, but I think I need to start cracking the whip and reminding you lot that we're trying to simplify the Settlement process, not complicate it. If you can show me how doing this simplifies the process, I'll gladly continue.

Re: WHQ 2nd Ed - Travelling and Settlements
Thanks to provide paper link, I'll check if they are copyrighted
About the settlement,
Our Warrior must have no difficulties to find a shop.
Perhaps we can use the same rule as phower phase. If you roll a 1 you have a settlement event. If not it's a quiet day
More generic locations : one for race, one for class, others for fun (chapel, casino...).
