It sometimes feels like that, huh? But that's why sites like this forum and The Pit are important emoticon

Interesting ideas. I also believe that a race can be challenging at any battle-level, but not necessarily that the Goblins should be of the same quality (for example). I imagine a Veteran Goblin regiment to be better armed and armored and have better tactics than the ones that Warriors usually make mincemeat of. All Greenskins get bigger as they get badder, so I think even Gobbos should get more Wounds, though definitely no more than 20 at the very top end. In D&D terms, their hit die is 2.

I have a thought right off the bat. Some of the ideas you introduce (flanking, horde, regiment) are akin to battle games. Why not take a cue from Warhammer Fantasy Battle and introduce the rules for defeat in combat, fleeing, etc? It could work like so:

Badmar is surrounded by 24 Goblins which he can easily dispatch. In turn 1 he pulls off a Deathblow which kills 6 of them. In the Monsters Phase they all attack with spears and arrows, inflicting a total of 1 actual Wound. Badmar wins the combat, and d6 Goblins flee the scene (from the rear ranks of course and after making Leadership rolls or whatever).

In Turn 2, Badmar is not quite as lucky. He rolls a succession of fumbles and only kills one Gobbo. The Goblins however, roll max damage twice, inflicting 2 actual Wounds on the heavily armed Warrior. At this point, Badmar loses the combat and must make a Willpower (or Leadership if implemented) save or immediately run his maximum movement away from combat.

If you want to make these kind of rules really effective, introduce attacks of opportunity and such. I'm not sure how best to do this though, as rules that benefit weak mobs may also benefit Monsters that are already powerful! Perhaps potential effects could be introduced as feats that Veteran or Grizzled monster regiments could use?

Re: ThePit (new website)

Firstly i have no problem with gobbos getting bigger at higher level, you could for example have regiments of GoblinBosses although they wouldn't actually be bosses but rather the standard goblins for a particulary tough clan of gobbos. No problem at all with that sort of thing.

Secondly i am in fact trying to emulate some of the WFB rules, i want warriors to be as vulnerable in the dungeon to an attack of forty foot troops as they are on a battle-field. Which i hope the rules will achieve. I have not however actually played WFB so my vague knowledge comes from bits and pieces i've read in whitedwarf.

The skills i'm trying for are designed only to allow the 'possibility' of fighting these low level monsters on high levels.
Also even with goblins with 20 wounds you might still need some of these type of rules if you want them to put up a fight against BL10 warriors. emoticon

As for your more direct translation of WFB rules, i don't think they'd work, on the battle-field units flee to safety in the dungeon your generally surrounded and running away will probably get you killed, also i think the warriors might benefit more from causing monsters to flee and lastly players would be a wee bit upset if their warriors get trying to run away or worse cut down as they ran like regiments in WFB. emoticon

Oh and the main reason i'm trying to develop these rules is for the numerous foreign bestiary's i have, by the time most groups think of going abroad their at such a high level that you can't really use the normal monsters for those foreign places.
I mean you decide to go to lustria and you'll probably never face a skink or saurus because your likely to be on level 4+ by the time you get there, i think thats a little unrealistic and annoying :bad: .

Big News down the Pit...

After much thought i've come to the conclusion that the Pit as its name suggests, should be a place for the dead, the fallen and the forgotten corpses of old WarhammerQuest sites. Aswell as a few new victims of course (original content!). I see no real point in my site having so much material which is still available elsewhere on the net. Therefore i will be deleteing all material which can be found on other WarhammerQuest sites.

But 'NOOOOoooo...' i hear you cry, 'it'll take us ages to sift through the various sites for items we might want', worry not gentle questers, for i wouldn't let you down like that. For your (and mine emoticon ) convenience i will still list as much WQ material as possible but instead of finding it on my site you will find links to the appropriate pages of other WQ sites. I will essentially be providing an index or searchengine type service listing all the best material and where to find it. I will not be linking directly to any files (that would be bandwidth theft!) but i'll drop you as close as possible emoticon.

And of course i'll continue to add new material whenever possible and if any of the WQ sites should fall, i'll be sure to drop the best bits of their corpse down the Pit. :bad:

I tried downloading:

Pit Fighter
Trollslayer

from the BIG Files page but a message comes back stating that it has been removed. Any hope of putting them back?

Thanks for fixing those files! I forgot to mention that I noticed that on the Warriors page, the Kislevite spell cards 1 by Mystified Michael has an error when you try to open it. It says that the file is incomplete. I've tried re-downloading this but still get the same message. Any suggestions?

Thanks
