I don't have too much trouble picturing a Halberd sending a ton of guys flying But, when going from outside ring to inside, the blade would have to be swept inwards so as not to hit with the shaft - thus the negatives to hit. I can understand taking away the Deathblow ability altogether for the Halberd for average Warriors, but if I implemented a Halberd or Naganata specialist, they would have special deathblow rules like this.nondisclosed_email@example.com (BassJam)Mon, 05 Feb 2007 05:36:30 +0000 Re: halberd death blow questionhttps://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p558712,from=rss#post558712https://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p558712,from=rss#post558712Interesting, but i don't think you need the -1 penalty on adjacent monsters in addition the spike on a halberd is blocked by the axe part of the weapon and would therefore be too short in my opinion to impale a target directly behind. As for the ranked Deathlow (ie trying to deathblow targets two sqares away) i use the rule that no weapon can make that kind of attack, which solves that problem for me .  But if you want to be able to then i'd say that an adjacent monster would end the deathblow as you'd hit them with the shaft of the weapon rather than the blade. So the rule would be: 'If attacking a non-adjacent opponent, a deathblow may occur as usual as long as there is an unoccupied square between the warrior and the monster he's attacking. If at any time in the deathlow the square between the warrior and the target monster is occupied, then the deathblow ends immediately'. Thats how i'd play it anyway .nondisclosed_email@example.com (spikeinthepit)Sun, 04 Feb 2007 04:24:40 +0000 Re: halberd death blow questionhttps://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p558711,from=rss#post558711https://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p558711,from=rss#post558711I was thinking of implementing a Warrior that specializes in Halberd, but hadn't decided how to handle this yet. If a Warrior is using a spear, it would only Deathblow the way spikeinthepit says (if you hit a guy adjacent and then one behind). A Halberd would be a bit more complex to deal with because it attacks in ranks but a Deathblow would usually be with a slashing motion. I can visualize how to rule it but can't figure out how to word it without diagrams. Here's a try: 1)if target is adjacent, then Deathblow can be made as normal against adjacent opponents only, but each subsequent attack is made at a cumulative -1 to Hit (a 6 always hits). Reason: It is awkward to use a Halberd in close quarters. 2) If target is adjacent, then Deathblow can be used to target a Monster behind target only (i.e. an impaling attack). 3) If target is 2 squares away, then sweeping Deathblow can be made in either direction until an adjacent creature is encountered. If the adjacent creature is a Monster, then the DB continues against adjacent Monsters only with the -1 modifiers.nondisclosed_email@example.com (BassJam)Sat, 03 Feb 2007 11:30:05 +0000 Re: halberd death blow questionhttps://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p558709,from=rss#post558709https://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p558709,from=rss#post558709Thanksnondisclosed_email@example.com (Heide)Wed, 31 Jan 2007 20:28:31 +0000 Re: halberd death blow questionhttps://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p558708,from=rss#post558708https://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p558708,from=rss#post558708Officially i don't think this question has ever been addressed, so the answer would be yes, logically of course the answer is no. Personnally i allow a Halberd to perform a deathblow as normal, i don't allow any weapon to have a Deathblow if attacking a non-adjacent opponent. For a spear the only deathblow i allow would be into the square directly behind the dead monster. But as i said, officially i think its deathblow as normal. Hope this helps.nondisclosed_email@example.com (spikeinthepit)Wed, 31 Jan 2007 03:36:00 +0000 halberd death blow questionhttps://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p558707,from=rss#post558707https://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p558707,from=rss#post558707Sorry being dense, but halberds/spears etc - do they have deathblows that have a range of arc adjacent to warrior as per normal or an arc 2 squares deep or just straight line away from warrior for 2 squares .Thanks [ did search couldn't see this]nondisclosed_email@example.com (Heide)Wed, 31 Jan 2007 01:54:21 +0000
