posticon Petrify?

Well i'm back for a another short stint the warhammer quest world, trying to get back into the flow by completing a quest.

Anyway i'm stuck in the bedroom of a Gorgon at the minute (not a pleasant experience emoticon ).

Trying to remember how Petrify works, can you only be petrified once per combat or do you lose 1 movement and 3D6 wounds everytime you roll a 1 to hit?

Re: Petrify?

My understanding is that a warrior suffers this penalty and the wounds every time he gets a 1 to hit versus a monster with this terrible characteristic. This would be consistent with the added instruction given in the rule for Petrify:

"If his Movement is subsequently reduced to 0 by any means while in the dungeon he is immediately turned to stone, beyond all reach of healing magic."

I have had warriors (while playing solo) down to only two movement as a result of this. I usually have them stand down, while the others finish off the monster(s) that petrifies. My warrior parties have sometimes left before an adventure was completed for this reason alone: fear of turning to stone.... after their movement has been greatly hindered.

This petrify rule is really good at putting the fear of Medusa (and her cousins) into the warriors' hearts. emoticon

Haha, my parties have not encountered many of these. I imagine another fun side-effect is more encounters due to less movement and therefore rolling Power Phase more often :bad:

The Reaper minis I use for Gorgons look like this: Image

Yes thats what i thought emoticon . Things are worse even than that, i already set off an Alarm so every event results in monsters, in addition i have an ogre in the party so thats even more monsters.
On top of that i think the objective room might be down the dreaded spiral staircase, and i'm playing the second quest CleansingFlame from the 'Green and Pustulant' article, i really need to complete the quest to get rid of some plagues i've caught emoticon .
Thanks for the response though emoticon .

They must've produced Gorgon minis at some point because they're listed in the 1996 version of WFB in the Battle Book. I seem to remember seeing a picture once but never ever online or in the pewter.
