The Adventures of Shandy Bucksfizz the Barbarian...

Played again last night. First room was a T Junction and we went left. It was the wrong way again, we did all the rooms down that way and fought orcs and spiders before having to go all the way back to the first room, when we got their an unexppected event occured, portcullis - but that's ok as we know that way is a deadend, we had to draw another event... cave in! So we quickly dashed through the door avoiding the falling rocks just.

Few corridors later another T Junction, and I pick the wrong route again! Luckily it was only 2 rooms to explore one way and 1 room another. So in the end the objective room was the very last room in the card deck! We'd explored and fought our way through 12 rooms and coming back on ourselves to get there. The corridor before the objective had a minotaur in it, and we quickly dispatched him and healed ourselves back to full strength.

Into the objective room and we had to fight 1 minotaur, 12 skaven and 12 giant rats. The minotaur was randomly placed against the barbarian (me) I done an amazing deathblow sweep of my sword taking out 3 giant rats and 2 skaven around me, the wizard used the hand of death scroll to leave 2 wounds on the minotaur. Which the barbarian dispatched with llittle trouble. Whilst the elf and dwarf mopped up the last rats and skaven.

An unexpected event was rolled in the power phase and 2 more minotaurs arrived :o While we were killing these 6 orcs turned up as well. Numerous turns of hacking and slashing and fixing ourselves up with healing potions and spells we managed to clear the idol chamber and desecrate the statue. We did it on the first attempt!

The barbarian had amassed the most gold! over 1100gold!

We then travelled to a city which took 6 weeks (6 hazard rolls on a D66 table) it cost us a fair bit of gold, but did bump into a ppedlar who sold us some stuff (I bought trinkets and healing potion) When we got to the city, the first thing the barbarian did was go to the alehouse, where rolling on the table revealed he got in a fight with another barbarian where he learnt a new skill, +1 attack for a single turn next adventure.

The Elf bought some arrows, the Wizard consulted the Wizards guilds and got some rerolls for the next battle, and the Dwarf in the alehouse learnt a song which when sung is so powerful can kill any monster up to the value of 300gold. :o

Settlements events where nothing to write home about for the first day.

2nd day in the city, and the barbarian ventures off to the armourer to buy furs. I check the stock and they're in stock. i now have +1 toughness (T5) My settlement event roll see me laid low with illness for the next 2 days.

The elf, decided to do nothing and rolled on the settlement event straight away and discovered he had to either leave the settlement or marry some guy's sister. So the elf is married now.

Wizard lacked funds and got done for time wasting in the wizards guild and had an uneventful settlement roll.

The dwarf was low on cash and rolled on the settlement events, he had to join the watch or pay to get out, he paid and that was all his money gone... time to make some more gold in the next adventure...

Re: The Adventures of Shandy Bucksfizz the Barbarian...

Well Shandy Bucksfizz ventured into the depths of the old world again last night. Sadly the Dwarf player was late and the elf player was ill, so 2 new warriors joined us. A wardancer and a Chaos Warrior.

We entered the first room and it was a corridor, someone joked about it not being the usual T junction... next room was a t junction, doh. After fighting through some goblin archers and being attacked by a swarm of scorpians, the barbarian decided to go right. We explored a corner and few corridors before we stumbled into a dungeon room and triggered a series of events, first were 10 rats quickly followed by 6 orcs. After some serious fighting for a few turns we managed to just leave 2 orcs standing, before we could dispatch them a minotaur rushed the barbarian, the barbarian rolling high enough went berzerk and with a 2 attacks managed to wound the creature an impress 10 times, with only 5 wounds left the wardancer bounded over and caused another 3 wounds, the wizard cast fire ball on the minotaur and inflicted just 2 wounds, just enough to slay the beast and claim the 440 gold, cheeky wizard. The chaos warrior dispatched the remaining 2 orcs.

Next room was another dungeon and we drew an event, portcullis... not to worry we have the key... we had to draw another card on a roll of a 1,2 or [sign in to see URL] we rolled... doh! 10 Snotlings turned up and huddled around the chaos warrior and barbarian, but we death blowed many in great sweeping arcs of our weapons.
The Wizardrolled a 1 on the ppower phase and turned over the event card and it's cave in. Oh crap, if we don't escape this room before the end of the turn we'll be crushed by falling rubble. We only had one more dungeon card to explore down this route, do we stay on this route, or fall back to the T junction and explore a fresh route... the barbarian chose to fall back so using the key, we unlocked the portcullis and dashed through as the rocks came crashing down we all escaped with our lives... just

The journey back to the T junction was uneventful, upon exploring the new route, we entered another dungeon room, and drew an event card and got pit. We all diced off and the wizard rolled lowest. So down the pit he goes. 2D6 wounds and you can only escape if you have he levitation spell or a rope... erm the dwarf has the rope and he didn't turn up, and the wizard doesn't know the levitation spell. haha oh how we laughed, the wizard is stuck in a pit with only 5 wounds.

At that point, the store manager said our time was up and we'd have to end it... so we decide to roll on the table for escaping the dungeon. As it's technically escaping we allowed the wizard to chance his luck and escape first. He rolled on the table and got the lose half your gold and take 2D6 wounds. With only 5 left we surely thought he was dead. He rolled a double 1. jammy git. He then had to roll on the table again, and he managed to escape but had to take D6 wounds and rolled another 1, he escapes... this wizard is one lucky SOB. The barbarian lost over a 1000gold by repeatedly rolling the same result and having to halve my gold total everytime, I mange to escape eventually. I did have 1359 gold, and ended up with 170 gold. Gutted. The chaos warrior made it out easily, and the war dancer, fell down a pit and died. :o

So the mission was a complete wash out, we failed to achieve anything apart from get some new treasure cards.

We decided to go to a town which meant 4 hazard rolls, we didn't fancy trying our luck with 6 hazard rolls to visit a city. We managed to get by without spending too much gold on events, namely by using the barbarians and wizards worthless trinkets we bought last time to fob people off instead of paying them gold.

At the settlement the first thing the barbarian did was go to the shops and buy a rope, it was in stock luckily. I then rolled on the event table and got steam bath. +1 to my starting wounds (now on 14) I paid my rent and retired. The wizard went to the shops but were out of stock of what he wanted. On the settlement events he had to pay some beggars some money. The chaos warrior went the gambliing house... and put down 20 gold and made 40 gold back, clearly the dark gods are guiding his hand. On the settlement event he had to marry someone... but quickly decided to dispatch the bride after he claimed "she didn't put out". lol

The following day the barbarian went to the alehouse and lost all his gold, >emoticon On the settle events I rolled another event which demanded I paid 1D6 x50 gold, I rolled a 2, so I sold a healing slave potion to pay for it. With no money left, I couldn't pay my rent and had to wait outside the settlement for my colleagues. The wizard went to the Wizards temple and did a consultation, with 2 rolls on the table he managed to increase his starting wounds to 14 and get a reroll for the next battle called guided hand. Can't remember his settlement event, so wasn't anything good. The Chaos Warrior wanted to buy healing bandages, but they were out of stock, so rolled on the settlement table and paid his rent.

This weeks nightmare of an adventure is over. Next week, we venture into the Lair of Orc Warlord. A dungeon with a themed orc and goblin monster deck.

Wow! This sounds like many of the first adventures I have played. It seems very typical that Warriors just don't end up with very much to spend after their first adventure.

Hell I'm impressed you made it TO the town. I've come to find that a lot of the other "warriors" are not balanced in the parties I've made. Good job!
