Can the Imperial Noble use a Sword?
The reason I ask this question, which has been discussed somewhat under another topic, is that I would like some opinions on it. It seems rather unclear to me one way or the other, since the Noble's rules do NOT specifically prohibit the use of melee weapons in addition to his Rapier.
There are at least a couple things in the Imperial Noble's rules which seem to imply that he might not be able to use a normal sword (and have a normal death-blow). Yet, both of these could also be interpreted (in my opinion) in such a way that they do NOT imply such a prohibition.
One of these is the Sabre Skill, which grants him a Sabre that works like a normal sword, but which also makes him harder to be hit by monsters (-1 to be hit).
The other is the skill which allows the Noble to use his Strength characteristic with his Rapier instead of the Rapier's Strength of 1. Yet, this makes his Duelling Skill even more powerful.
It is clear to me, however, that he can only use his duelling skill with his Rapier and NOT with other melee weapons.
It is very hard for me to imagine that a character which is so skilled as a duellist would NOT be able to use a common sword.
Also, his rules DO state that he can use whatever a Barbarian can use, with the exception that he cannot wear more than three points of armour.
Ultimately, the answer to this question -- at least in my mind -- determines whether the Imperial Noble can perform a normal death-blow while wielding another melee weapon. Also, it will help to solidify in my mind the idea that his Duelling Skill is actually better (in a way) than a normal Death-blow, except for the fact that it can only be used with his Rapier which has a Strength of 1 starting out.

Re: Can the Imperial Noble use a Sword?
As far as all the rules I have read, my conclusion is that the noble can indeed use other swords, as per a normal warrior. However, they cause normal deathblows as per a normal warrior however. Allowing him to use a Sword of Vengeance with the dueling skill would be entirely too powerful.

I agree with Disc0Stu. The IN can use other swords and gain a deathblow with them, but he can't apply his Duelling skill since that is a skill specifically for the Rapier.

Re: Can the Imperial Noble use a Sword?
Thanks, guys. My gut interpretation is the same as what you have said. It is useful though to hear it from others.
