Attacking Diagonally-Adjacent Models in hand-to-Hand Combat

I have recently discussed this with someone -- I think it was in a PBEM type gaming group.

I truly believe that they have carried over from some other game(s) the idea that models cannot attack diagonally-adjacent models in hand-to-hand combat. While the Rule Book for WHQ does not specifically come out and say that you can or cannot do so, I was fairly certain that it is at least implied.

Then I decided to look at the illustrations in the Rule Book. I found one where a Death-blow is illustrated and it shows very clearly that a monster diagonally-adjacent to the Warrior can be a valid target.

The little explosion stars were to show monsters that had actually been hit and killed in the example given in the combat section of the Rule Book.

EDIT: No, this was not a death-blow discussion, which has been fully discussed eslewhere - probably several times. emoticon

The warriors can attack diagonally, move diagonally, shoot etc, accept where there is a wall in the way (such as the t-junction).
