Weapons

At the beginning of each turn, the Warrior is supposed to say what weapon he is using. So, he can change weapons at the beginning of each turn.

This is one place where paying attention to whether weapons are two-handed is rather important, because it relates to other equipment. For instance, one cannot use a shield and a bow in the same turn.

Armour:

A Shield can be dropped or grabbed - without expending much effort. So, I always assume it can be done at the same time as the weapon is chosen.

A Helm(et) is slightly more complicated, but I don't usually get too picky about it. If I do pay attention though, I would probably say that a Warrior should sacrifice one Attack in order to remove or don a helm.

Body Armour is much more difficult a matter. According to the RolePlay Book, a Warrior must spend a whole turn doing nothing but removing and/or equipping his suit of armour -- no moving or fighting. It seems logical to me that this cannot be done while pinned by a monster.

Other Equipment - seems to depend upon their purpose and how they are to be worn or used. Most equipment I don't worry too much about, but some things it seems would only work if actually worn (i.e. a ring, a magical hat, Boots of Battle most definitely). Most things are assumed to be in the Warrior's 'bag' or backpack and within easy reach (whatever, his inventory). Whether it can be used or not usually will have much to do with the item's description.

Firebombs I treat as items which a Warrior can quickly grab and toss without expending an Attack even. I was involved in a game though, where the GM said that using a Firebomb would use up one attack -- which sort of makes sense. It is probably a houserule issue.

This is a first Old Warrior i have to disagree slightly with you there. But only for personal preference.

I see that once you are in combat i.e. Pinned, you are not able to change weapons armour as effectively you are fighting off, ducking, dodging incoming blows.

I never allow characters to swap weapons, armour, and the like in the middle of combat. However you could introduce a pinning rule that in pinned and you can escape from pinning, you could maybe access one other weapon.

But i suppose this opens up a whole can of worms when using scrolls and the like. Maybe a rule where using scrolls, and potions and accessories you are only allowed to use one per turn whilst using your attacks in combat.

I also think that firebombs also need a pinning roll to be used as an extra attack, on top of the characters profile. But im not overly keen on that one.

Most of what I wrote is based upon the RolePlay Book. I do understand the logic behind Don's disagreement though.

I prefer to be more simple now for ease of play.

My personal opinion on all things which differ from the WHQ original books is that the GM and/or gaming group just needs to come up with their own set of houserules and try to be consistant.

I play like OldWarrior - I usually forget to enforce the full turn for donning armour though :/ I will try to remember next time...
