Re: Wizard Revision

I've put together a booklet with all of the Wizard rules from WHQ. (hopefully nothing pertinent left out!)
I adjusted:
- stored Power he receives when he advances
- created custom Battle-Level titles
- limited the # of Attack spells he may cast each turn
- added online FAQ info in the Staff section
- changed how the Wizard receives new spells
(Which spells he gets is now random. And why not? All the other Warriors don't get to choose their new abilities when they train.)
Excellent idea to include the FAQ info.
Hmmm... I never thought of making his new spells random. I will have to have a closer look! This seems a good way to help balance him a bit.
Concerning the new method of spell selection for new levels: there is an incomplete sentence -- quote: If you roll a spell that your Wizard already has, you may roll again. If the second is also one the he already has, the Wizard
I think it was going to say something like, the Wizard fails to learn the new spell of the chosen power..., but I am intereseted to see the intended words - especially since I could be totally wrong.
Oh, and the limitation of Attack spells per turn: My opinion is that it might be a little weak (as in not restrictive enough), but still it is a limitation. Yet, with your power limitations as well, it might just work! I will need to play test this new Wizard.
It seems the spells for casting cost 12 are missing in the tables.
I think the Battle-Level Table does not yet show the modified Toughness. I am personally not in favor of a Toughness 2 Wizard for reasons I mentioned in another topic, but I can certainly see the logic of it.
If I missed that this version is not yet complete, I am sorry.
I think I might use some of your ideas, if I can find a way to transition to them in my games. Partly it will depend upon my players...

Re: Wizard Revision
Ah, thank you, Old Warrior, for all the catches on mistakes.
- Toughness has been correct on Character Card and starting profile (was already correct on Battle-Level Table)
- Spells added to blank entries on Casting Level 12
- Wording finished on new method of spell selection

Warrior Priest Battle-Level Table
The whole time i kept thinking that the Wizard should have the same Toughness as the Warrior Priest, when i should have been thinking that the WARRIOR PRIEST should have the same Toughness as the Wizard.
Thus my solution is to no longer think of lowering the Wizard's Toughness, but to raise the Warrior Priest's Toughness to a natural 3.
Any thoughts?

Custom Battle-Level Tables (Littlemonk) Revision C
I have always wondered why they gave such a wimpy Toughness to the Warrior Priest, when in my own imagination I don't see him as any less tough than the Wizard physically. If anything, I would think the Warrior Priest would be a little more of a physical fighter.
That being said, the standard beginning Toughness for any normal-sized humanoid seems to be 3. Even the Barbarian has Toughness of 3, but he can wear armour that the Warrior Priest and Wizard cannot wear. I think much of the physical resistance to damage in Warhammer Quest was intended to be handled by armour. The more physical and hardy a fighter is, the more armour he is allowed to wear. Hence we have only the Dwarf (of the original four) which can wear Plate Armour. It could be that the creator(s) of the Warrior Priest were thinking of him as sort of like a Wizard and definitely not as tough as a Barbarian, but they wanted him to wear that fancy Breastplate. lol It probably has something to do with the background info in the Warhammer World -- of which I am greatly ignorant.
So, in the big picture, if I were doing a WHQ remake, I tend to agree with you that if anyone's Toughness should be changed, it would be the Warrior Priest's Toughness.

Re: Custom Warhammer
I'm setting up a new Board just to put all of my custom Warhammer Quest links. I think it will be a lot easier. This thing is 8 pages with revision after revision.
If it's not offensive to anyone, here is the link of the board:
Warhammer Quest Customized
I'll be listing all of my new stuff there. I've put on a level of security to avoid spam and such.
And if the moderators of this board remove this thread because of a lot of the graphics and text that i'm using, i understand. I definitely don't want this site removed because of a lot of my copyright infringements.

This sounds very interesting. I almost feel jealous! I love to create things, especially expansions and custom Warriors!
Maybe I can use these things in some of my near future games.

Re: Custom Warhammer
I've cleaned up the Dwarf Brewmaster from Deathblow #2 a little bit by creating a booklet. Changes, revisions, and corrections are noted...
