Which Fireball?

The spell card for Fireball says "1D6+2 Wounds, only modified for Toughness."

The Roleplay Book says "1D6+(the Wizard's Battle-level) Wounds." No mention of Toughness.

Which is correct? Do you just use the spell card in the basic game?

We kind of assumed it was modified or re-balanced slightly to make it more usable for the single-play games... in which case everyone just plays as Battle-level 1. Kind of along the same lines as leaving the Fear 5 stat off of the Minotaur Event card and never having the chance to face tougher Monsters from the Monster tables... basically just a little easier for a single play-through.

I would definitely agree that you use the spell card for the basic game and then proceed to the advanced spell description from the RolePlay Book for an advanced game.

But, you can always houserule that the spell should never be weaker than the card: BL 1 AND 2 would do 1D6+2 damage, and then Bl 3 and so one would be 1D6+BL.

In my opinion, the extra 1 point of damage will not matter that much at BL 1, especially since the monsters get tougher in the advanced game -- assuming you use tables and all the Special Rules for the monsters.
