Insane Monster Table idea

Inspired by some of the work by some of the poster here, I'm thinking of getting cracking on Monster Tables among other things.

Now, these are clearly hard work because the Monster Tables in the Roleplay Book were awesome, and then the ones in the Orclord and Catacombs of Terror books were incredibly lazy (for published works), grouping together dungeon levels 3-5 in one case!

But I was thinking it would be cool to have tables themed for each dungeon with results like (for example if I am in a Skaven dungeon):

quote:

11 & 66 - roll on Skaven chart next level up
12 - roll on Roleplay book chart
13 - roll on Beastmen, Chaos Warrior, or Daemon chart (roll again to determine)
14 - roll on Chaos Dwarf, Dark Elf chart or Ogre chart(simile)
15 - roll on Lair of Orclord or custom Orc& Goblin chart
16 - roll on Catacombs of Terror chart, Sylvanian chart, or custom Tomb Kings chart

21-56 would all be Skaven-themed Monsters.

61 - roll on Bretonnian or Barbarian chart
62 - roll on Dogs of War or Dwarf chart
63 - roll on Empire chart
64 - roll on High Elf or Wood Elf chart
65 - roll on "ChaosDwarfQuest" chart or Roleplay Book chart

What do you guys think? Obviously you'd be limited by what Battle-level tables are available as well as miniatures in your collection but I think it would be awesome to have each dungeon populated by appropriate denizens as well as a small population of "patrols" from other armies. Originally I was going to make d100 tables after the Brockhouses but somehow a whole slew of d66 tables seems less daunting :P

If you notice, the lower rolls will produce "bad guys" while the higher produce patrols of Order. At that point there is a chance for aid, parley or battle depending upon your party composition.

The rules I use for that were in a Dwarf article from White Dwarf or Citadel Journal but I'm having trouble finding it at the moment! Does anybody have this or know where it is? There were basically 3 levels worth of Dwarf Monsters as well as the rules stating whether they attacked, ignored you, or helped you (modified by +1 for each Dwarf in the part and -1 for each Elf).

I think you're referring to Citadel Journal #25 - Dwarf Encounters.
