Treasure

Hey guys

Just wondering what people use to generate treasure? Has anyone come up with some custom lists/tables?

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Treasure

I've got a couple of treasure tables on the customs board. There are some other floating around other sites as well.

Re: Treasure

I use a complex system for random treasure.

I roll 1D6 -- the easy part.

1-3 = roll on The Treasure Tome
4-5 = roll on Chris Taylor's New Treasures
6 = roll on the 1D6 treasure table in the RolePlay Book.

If I roll a 'Take a Treasure Card' result, I then roll 1D174 on my Treasure Cards Table. I should probably add that to my custom tables page. I created that from the complete list of Treasure Cards I found in The Museum.

The Treasure Tome and Chris Taylor's New Treasures can be found on the Custom Tables page of Old Warrior's Stronghold.

I am currently working on a revised version of The Treasure Tome. Many of the common treasures found there will be revised AND the tables will be revised to prevent getting very valuable common armour every several treasures -- which is what was happening in my use of The Treasure Tome.

Once I finish this project, I will try to post a link to the document here -- if I remember.

Re: Treasure

I use a system that once an event is completed, instead of warriors gaining gold for each monster killed, they each roll 2d6.
2= 1000 Gold
3= 350 Gold
4= 100 Gold
5= 75 Gold
6= 50 Gold
7= 25 Gold
8= Potion
9= Magic Weapon
10= Magic Item
11= Magic Armor
12= 1000 Gold
I just keep the cards for weapons, potions, armor, and generic items such as rings, wands etc, in separate piles.

That is a cool idea Larry!

There are so many swords in the treasure decks that it is sad for characters like the Druid. So I have been slowly developing rules for all the item cards from Paizo's GameMastery decks, just to get back to cards.

Once a player has a card, I have them keep it with their character sheet. That removes rare items like the Hammer of Sigmar from circulation somewhat.

Re: Treasure

Hi all, what I have done is to follow the rules mostly (I use a d4: 1 is for orginal deck, 2 is for the second deck, 3 is for the third deck and 4th is for the book)

The leader decides who to give the next treasure to and that character has to roll a d6 + his Ins to equal a 7 or higher to see if the "magic orb" will turn into money or a magic item with a plus or minus bonus at the discretion of the GM. after all its an orb and not a potion or weapon or a ring.

So if they fail they will always get the equivalent in gold.
Just not so many magic weapons, items and what not.

What prompted this was seeing a warrior with a golf bag full of magic sword
or a wizard with 8 rings and the list can go on.

I have had them complain about not getting enough magic items but they do have allot of gold for supplies and on the traveling table when it dictated loosing a sword or magic item or treasure its a whole new ball game.

Re: Treasure

So, here I am still trying to get around to finishing the Revised Treasure Tome. This proves I have way too many Warhammer Quest projects all going at the same time!

Anyway, I am currently making some serious progress on the things my gaming group and I wanted most to see revised.

Others are giving some suggestions especially in the area of flavour text and some concerning item functions. So, I anticipate having this project completed before most people here learn my real name (just a bad/poor joke!)! emoticon
