Wow! It looks like you put a lot of thought into this.

I just might have to use this table whenever I need a random trap. emoticon

Re: my D100 events table

please do, that's what I've put it here for emoticon

got to about trap 30 2 years ago when I started and then it got shelved.
(we play DnD fortnightly, there was a total party kill and I thought people would prefer something less strategic and more combat so dusted off the WHQ box and started all the work. then they decided they wanted more RP and tactics so I stopped work on it)

so the last 70 traps have been mostly "how do I make these different enough so it's not all: pit trap, spear trap, arrow trap etc."

took a lot of imagining traps, remembering some from films and spell style traps from dungeons from many board/RP/computer games.

funnily enough as soon as I finished I thought of three more...!

Re: my D100 events table

Similar to my suggestion elsewhere, I would highly recommend that this table be put into PDF or HTML format. Let me know if I can be of any assistance. In fact, I would be glad to host such files for you on my own website (Old Warrior's Stronghold).

PDF is best for a number of reasons, though for my site html is better for page transition/browsing online. I could host your documents both ways.

EDIT: To be clear, I think I can help with getting your things into PDF and html if you want.

Re: my D100 events table

just as an amendment on these tables (traps and Events) I have changed my approach.
instead of scaling by rank (level 1 = rank 1 levels 2-4 = rank 2, levels 5-8 = rank 3 and levels 9-10 = rank 4)

I have switched to rank 1 = levels 1-4.
the same otherwise.

I just found level 2 parties not hard enough for traps and events to level up that bit more

I am slightly confused by your post. If Rank 1 = levels 1-4, I am not sure the rest of the ranks can remain the same as before. Rank 2 would disappear, and then Rank 3 = levels 5-8?

I am assuming it would be something like the following(?):
Rank 1 = Levels 1-4
Rank 2 = Levels 5-8
Rank 3 = Levels 9-10

Re: my D100 events table

pretty much just 3 tiers for traps and encounters.

as you've said in the past WHQ does not use rank for anything anyway, some warriors even have different numbers of titles, so I'm going to amend my tables to reflect that.

might not use the word rank but don't want every single entry to have "if warriors are level 1-4 roll 2D6, levels 5-8 roll 3D6 and levels 9-10 roll 4D6"
for example

That's why a lot of the Damage of traps, etc. adjusts for Battle-level. (ex. 1D6 + Battle-level Wounds) Minor, but does create a wider and simple range.

You could also just use 2x Battle-level Wounds. That's 2 wounds at Level 1, 4 wounds at level 2, etc. All depends how much you want to affect the Warriors. I like the 1D6 + (whatever) because of the fact that it puts most of the damage as a direct result of the luck of the player.

Re: my D100 events table

thread necromancy kind of, apologies.

I actually utilised rank 1 for levels 1-3
rank 2 for 4-6
rank 3 for 7-9
rank 4 for level 10.

this seems to have worked better at the level 1-4 range so far, not played above that with these tables so far.

I personally do not have a problem with resurrecting old topics. Others might though.

My opinion is that if you want to add to a discussion, then do it. We encourage people to find answers in previous/older topics... In my thinking, this indirectly encourages them to post their thoughts on those older topics as well. emoticon

Any new activity, whether on older topics or newer, helps to keep this board alive and kicking.

In the case of this current topic, feedback concerning play testing is very useful information for those who might consider whether to use this custom table in their own games.
