I personally play WHQ only on computer (private gaming community), where we use all sorts of custom things. I don't use the physical game at all! lol. There was a time when sharing electronic copies of the official materials was partly sanctioned by GW -- for those who have purchased the game I think. I personally purchased several copies of WHQ, several of the expensive metal models, a few Warrior Packs, Treasure Card Packs, and Death Blow Magazine. I would think that you would have a market for your cards. I might be interested once I see the finished product (or sample{s} of it).nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Wed, 15 Feb 2012 01:43:56 +0000 Re: Treasure Cardshttps://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p561513,from=rss#post561513https://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p561513,from=rss#post561513Hiya, Thanks for the comments. I've gone over the GW IP rules and regs a few times and had come to exactly the same conclusion. The policy is a really clever bit of text and I know there are cases in the courts for IP infringement. The artwork for the back of the card will be commissioned through an artist of some kind along with any art on the front and I'd market them as treasure cards suitable for dungeon games rather than for a single specific game. Good point on the BEDW lettering - I may come up with some kind of "key" for "warrior", "ranger", "dwarf" and "mage" that can act as a substitute 'usage'.nondisclosed_email@example.com (PeteA)Tue, 14 Feb 2012 19:35:33 +0000 Re: Treasure Cardshttps://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p561512,from=rss#post561512https://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p561512,from=rss#post561512Well, to actually sell them would be tricky I think. Even if you would not be making a profit, you would likely need to be very careful NOT to include any copyrighted terminology and NOT sell them as Warhammer Quest material. As a side note, I don't see any problem with people contacting you by PM (online or email) and working out a way to share the cost or whatever... It is just something we don't even talk about much here for fear of some type of intellectual property issue. --- EDIT: If the cards were created with generic text -- meaning giving game functionality without being distinctly Warhammer Quest in nature, then it might be more easily defended as NOT an infringement. Of course, I would assume there would not be any copyrighted images used on the cards. What I mean by generic would be something like the following: Axe of the Woods -- This one-handed axe does double the normal amount of damage when it successfully strikes any goblin or any relative of a goblin. As for what types of Warriors could use it, I would be afraid to put the BEDW letters on the cards, since I think that is rather specific to Warhammer Quest. Anyway, just my thoughts.nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Tue, 14 Feb 2012 07:42:52 +0000 Treasure Cardshttps://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p561511,from=rss#post561511https://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p561511,from=rss#post561511Hi All, Bit of canvassing for interest. I've finally got the information and bits together for potentially professionally producing some new packs of treasure cards, so 56 brand new cards with custom artwork and treasures on that can be used in games of WHQ (or similar games). When I say professional I do genuinely mean that too - plastic covered cards in a deck box, not something knocked out on an inkjet printer. I have come up with a figure in my head, but was wondering what people would expect to pay for a pack and more importantly would people be interested? I'm going to have to invest in quite a large amount of stock (at least 100) so I'm conducting this general poll on here (and other WHQ forums) so see what kind of response I get back to see if this is going to be worthwhile doing or I'm going to sell 2 packs and that's it Petenondisclosed_email@example.com (PeteA)Tue, 14 Feb 2012 02:09:02 +0000
