How Do They Calculate Damage in this Game?

Forgive me as I try to answer my own question... I am just sort of thinking 'aloud' if you will...

I am guessing that damage is based on the original concepts but with some adjustment. The weapons suggest variable damage that does not look to be an equivalent to the original Damage Dice.

Also, I noticed that the characters and enemies do NOT show a Damage Dice characteristic in their stats. There is the weapon's variable damage and then there is the wielder's Strength too. Both of these are certainly used to calculate damage (at least for melee attacks, not sure whether wielder's Str is used for ranged). There are daggers which state that when used 'the wielder's Strength is ignored'.

It seems evident that they do deduct the target's Toughness, both characteristic and any armour, accessory and effect modifiers to Toughness.

Anyone else want to discuss this?

To be honest, ive spent most of my time either just bashing away at these monsters and collecting treasure that i never gave it a second thought! emoticon

I will have a look tonight (British Time) to see if i can figure anything out.

I wonder if we will ever see a "Cheat Book" for this game, with all the codes of what each item does? For example ive got an acorn which "significantly increases my chance to hit". +2 to hit maybe.

But my warrior priest and troll slayer never hit anything.

Shame if thats the case about the skaven expansion as i would have like to tried my warriors out against some low level skaven.

Back to 3xBig Boss Orcs, 3 x Shamens, and two river trolls! Not to mention those pesky vicious bugs and crawlers!

I think if you start a new game and/or swap out to lower level Warriors in the Adventurer's Guild, that you will probably be able to play against lower level Skaven.

I plan to start a new party -- in the near future -- and just go right into the Skaven expansion quests and see what happens. emoticon

Thats a good idea of starting a new campaign with the skaven expansion from the begining.

I might do that with 7 fresh new warriors.

Seems like my weekend is already taken up. emoticon

Has there been any more news on new expansions and warriors coming online and the warriors leveling up more?

I have not heard anything yet. I am eager to see the Pit Fighter, Wardancer, Ogre, Halfling Thief, and Chaos Warrior. emoticon

I suspect they will do Undead, Chaos, Dark Elf and Chaos Dwarf expansions -- IF they decide to create more.

IF they do all that, then I think is conceivable that they could then make quests with totally random monsters throughout -- like the original monster tables.

More Battle-levels are needed too! emoticon I have a maximum Level (level 6) Marauder who got like 30,000+ XP from a single quest!
