A couple thoughts come to mind: 1. I would play several adventures with the party before judging them too much, though it sounds like you have a good head for judging these things. 2. Surviving against a Savage Orc Shaman that long speaks well of the usefulness of having a couple priestly characters along -- when lacking a Wizard, or course. By the way, Peter's Runesmith's Apprentice is a big favourite with some of those in my gaming group.nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Fri, 08 Nov 2013 10:26:01 +0000 first dungeon solo playhttps://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p562008,from=rss#post562008https://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/p562008,from=rss#post562008so I wanted to try out a few warriors I had made and the runesmith apprentice by Peter Haresnape and decided to try them all in one dungeon! seems like a terrible idea in hindsight. priest of Ranald: homebrew based loosely around the priest of sigmar (I've made this into an almost entirely homebrew warrior dedicated to sigmar/ulric/morr/ranald/myrmidia/shallya and each has slightly different stuff) runesmith wood elf way watcher (another homebrew) intrepid explorer (Indiana jones) I think they all worked really well and the way I intended them to work. I used my D100 events table and D100 traps table. the adventure was uncharacteristically short as a T junction was found and the correct way was chosen. first encounter was spiders which webbed the runesmith who promptly stayed web until all of the rest were slain. the second was snotlings who thankfully divided themselves more or less amongst the party. then the objective room was reached, 2 rolls on level 2 table savage orc shaman and 8 guards (!) 3 beastmen (D6+2=3 means phew!) first round all beastmen dead took 4 turns to defeat the orcs took another 12 turns to seriously wound the shaman! (all strength 3 players) shaman spells at level 1 are seriously annoying, all are either 1 warrior drops to zero wounds or nothing really happens or wizard/spell caster is screwed over then normal orcs showed up due to an unexpected event: 10 with swords they were slain in about 3 turns and the shaman died! hurrah! what I learned: you do need at least one strong/tough warrior to hit tough targets like the shaman. my waywatcher did exactly as intended, level ups will be reviewed in due course. intrepid explorer is a bit meh at level 1: combination of WS3 and s/t of 3 too. runesmith worked brilliantly. priest mostly had issue of one blessing being better than the other two, although it is "Ranalds blessing" so this makes sense. (all priests start with scourge of chaos=one warrior has +1 to hit rolls or vanquish: one warrior has +1 attack. both last one turn. then the blessing of their own god.) not sure what to do to intrepid explorer, do not want to boost WS makes no sense to me for him to be WS4....will ponder (next time I will try to be more storyteller than this!)nondisclosed_email@example.com (Edquest)Fri, 08 Nov 2013 05:18:38 +0000
