Re: Own Boardgame: Operation C - Furious battle in prehistoric times

At this point I would like to briefly explain the 5 player variant once :

In operation C , there are four heroes : Alexander Cross, member of a special unit . Dylan Palmer, paramedic and head of the evacuation team. Ashley Ryker, biologist and computer experts and Ripley Thomas, an experienced big game hunter. Each player chooses a hero, he wants to play . If several players want to play the same heroes , throw the six-sided die for each player. The player who rolls the highest result must play the corresponding hero. Operation C is best played with four players . If this is sometimes not possible even fewer players can play the missions. In this case, a player must then take several heroes. No matter how many players there are, it should always be all four heroes game.

With future enhancements, it will also soon be more playable heroes . So Operation C is also possible to play with 5 or 6 heroes. More detailed information can be found in the so called hero packs.

For 5 or more players minor corrections to be made during the game. Per additional player 25 % more enemies( bioweapons ) appear. In addition, more intuition dice getting in the intuition phase.

The 5th new hero is sergeant Tal-Ra-Seed, a Native American and a member of the Marine Corp . He belongs to the "Aufklärer" and is subject to a secret command of the U.S. government.

Seed is a powerful melee fighter and has some very specific skills that can help the heroes very much. Equipped with a tomahawk with a Titan alloy, which can cause fatal wounds and a PREDATOR composite bow, which can be loaded like in the movie Rambo 2 with explosive arrows.

I love this by the way.

it is coming close to resident evil with the undead ideas, I mention this only as something to consider for copyright purposes.

I imagine others will think the same way.

that said I would love to see more games of a similar style as WHQ regardless of where some of the ideas have come from

most of my posts may run into essay length. I find that for a lot of queries/feedback context is important and that is why this happens more often than not.

have a great day :D

Hello, everyone,

It has been mostly quiet around here for a while... It is good to have some discussion. Also, I like to see how this game is progressing. Hopefully, I will get more involved soon in helping with editing and/or reviewing the English translation (My To Do list is too long! emoticon ).

About Edquest's concern... my personal opinion is that the "mindless, infected" people/creatures, would not necessarily be a copyright issue, because there are so many mindless/zombie-like creatures/people all over recent media and entertainment -- AND several different ones relate the condition to some type of infection too. It seems to me that the concept is sort of close to becoming Public Domain! lol

I do think Edquest raises an important point though. The way people perceive something like this could lead to misunderstanding the creator's intent...

I think making it very clear that these people are NOT dead, but that this infection has taken them over while they are still alive, might help to make this concept different enough from Resident Evil that there will be less chance of misunderstanding.

Hi,

the infected are only one enemy-type in the expansion, not the mainvillians. Don´´t worry about this. But for the design of the story and the missions I add him. Besides, at point we have over 14 Dinosaur species and with the next expansion many will come.
The Name CITY OF THE DEAD is a reference to the a 1960 horror film directed by John Llewellyn Moxey and starring Christopher Lee and Valentine Dyall.

There are 3 classes of the Infecetd:
TURBA, MUTARI und HORROR. They uses all the same Infected Figures (such as the ALPHA-Species) but have differnt powers. Besides the expansion will have only 6 Missions (but they will be hell :-).

Here is a summary from the CITY OF THE DEAD Rulebook:

The CITY OF THE DEAD is an extension for OPERATION C - Furious battle in prehistoric times. This expansion includes new bioweapons figures and cards, 4 new sector floor plans, 50 new Game-Cards, some new markers and a XX-page rulebook.
The extension uses the known rules of OPERATION C, so that you can lead your heroes in the depths of Howell City without problems. Apart from some special rules in this book, all the rules of OPERATION C are applied.
After the events in the CHIMÄRE 2 the heroes head to HOWELL CITY, which was also thrown into the past. In HOWELL CITY live and work the employees of BioGen, as suudenly a dangerous disease break out and has the people turn into terrible creatures, that are now controlled by the mysterious collective of the CHIRUG-Parasite.
When the heroes reach the city, it is already too late. The streets are deserted, devastated and empty. The jungle slowly conquered back his terrain and dangerous bioweapons roam the streets and buildings. But not only bioweapons face the heroes in the way, but also the INFECTED. These are the now mindless inhabitants of the city, infested by the CHIRUG-Parasite. The creatures go through several mutations and lose always more and more of their humanity. To find out what is happening in the city , the heroes must work together. You must be careful, because in the streets awaits treacherous traps, eerie bioweapons and a more unknown danger. Because the devilish cruel mutation of the CHIRUG-Parasit is ready to breakout: The GÖTTER-Parasit.
