Epic fail? for WHQ first showing to a new player.

So I've been trying to get as many people to play WHQ as possible in my LGC and all the games I've shown have been pretty good with all of them making it to the last room but today was just horrible.
So the day starts of with some games of 40k and then into some smaller games and so I show someone WHQ that has never played telling him how fun it is. First tile comes up a room the event is 6 orcs and I was thinking "not to easy but ok" and we kill like 3 orks. Next PP a one comes up event 3 minotaur so I say "NO" and set it aside to draw another. Boom another Minotaur but this time the new player says "let's fight it can't be that bad" so the Mino hits the board. First turn the mino kills the warrior and the wizard and proceeds to kill at will. That game took longer to set up then to play.
After that showing I was thinking he's done probably never want to play this over powered game again but to my surprise he was instantly wanting to play another.
The second game I believe was one of the best showings to a new player that I've had with a full dungeon played out. Split off rooms from T-tiles and very good back and forth rolls on the warriors side and the monsters ending up with a lone surviving dwarf fighting his way to the final room and dieing a horrible death do to the awesome power of the giant rats.
And so after this last game I believe this new player is hooked and not to do with the game being a really good game but that he was beat down and destroyed. I've noticed after a long time of playing board games/table top games that some players will play a game, beat it, and never think twice about it but you let that same player get crushed not by another player but the game it's self and you got a winner.
New player is set for a rematch with three other players tomorrow high [sign in to see URL]'s to more shattered dreams.

Wow! Excellent!

If I read correctly, though, that Minotaur took down two Warriors in one turn...? According to the original rules it could only do that IF it had the Large Monster rule (RolePlay Book, page 82), because the original rule on Monsters with more than one Attack is as follows (Rule Book, page 23):

quote:

If a Monster has more than 1 Attack it must use all of them against a single Warrior.

It could only take down one Warrior per turn. BUT, it's a fairly even trade in this case, since you passed on the 3 Minotaurs! lol emoticon

Your new player, however, DID get a true taste overall of how deadly and brutal WHQ can be. emoticon

Now you're getting deep into the Role play book and that's something I have yet to dive completely into yet with all the extra monster rules like fear and stuff this is only like my ninth or so game so this will happen more then once I promise. As for the actual rule in the rule book I really just went on the fly and assumed that this would be the way it worked since warriors can do it.
Thanks for the heads up...
you live and [sign in to see URL] was that learn?

In WHQ it is definitely live, learn and/or die -- at least for your Warriors.

Yeah, you can just ignore my comments about the deep things of the RolePlay Book, until you really need them. emoticon

EDIT: I am going to bed now. Good night.
