Warhammer Quest rules

Something Old Warrior has said has raised a question in my mind.

How many of you are just using the rules from the main box set?
How many of you have the two adventure packs?
How many of you have the nine character packs?
How many of you have/use the three treasure card packs?
How many of you have the 20 White Dwarf articles?
How many of you have the 3 Mail Order character packs?
How many of you have the 16 Citadel Journals with WHQ articles?
How many of you have the 3 Deathblow Magazines?

I ask because I have been told that most of you do not have the complete rules for WHQ.
Complete rules meaning all the rules GW officially put out for the game which includes everything in the first five questions.
Some would say the sixth is also official since they were released through GW Mail Order.
7 & 8 for most folks are only classified as semi-official.

So, where y'all at as far as all this?

In my opinion, the rules in the original boxed set are enough to play the game and are therefore complete enough. emoticon. But, I do understand where Warrior Monk is coming from on this question, because he outlines a rather complete list of all official source material for the game, including extra rules and further instructions and etc.

I would like to clarify that I personally have little knowledge of how much of this collection everyone here has. I was just for the sake of discussion stating that not everyone has access to all the additional materials.

At the height of my collection, I had the original game, a few White Dwarf issues, two or three issues of Deathblow, the Lair of the Orc Lord expansion, two or three of the Treasure Packs, and several of the Character Packs.

But, by way of gaming with others, I have access to all of the above, all of the Character Packs, and the Catcombs of Terror expansion.

Re: Warhammer Quest rules

I have WHQ boxed set, lair of the orc lord, some white dwarfs but I don't really use the stuff in them that much (travelling to lustria for example) although I do like and will add the customs and excise agent in my settlement events table when I get round to writing it

I have no Catacombs of Terror expansion (did not play much when it came out and did not foresee them stopping production at the time)
I have two deathblows
I have the journal with the blood bowl player
all the standard warrior expansions

I have all the treasure card sets set into one massive deck and have combined all the objective room item tables and cards into one table, using a D100.
I've dropped a few crap items (pistol and shot) but also added a couple of magic items onto the objective room item table because they are actually incredibly good (ring of power, belt of Gagron and a few others are definitely edging towards Objective Room treasure level imo)

at some point I intend to combine all of the treasure card into tables and add more found here and elsewhere on the net.
I'm so far not doing that because
1 massive task
2 I have other things I do in life
3 no idea really how to organise (should I do a table of consumables, once per adventure stuff, constantly on stuff, an entire table of potions/healing would be boring. there's so much to think about. plus will it inadvertently mean more powerful stuff gets picked up more frequently? like runes, now there are 4-5 runes in my massive treasure pile and it never gets shuffled, if I tabulate them they could, feasibly, come up once or twice every adventure)
I'll file that under "work in progress(that I'll probably never do)"

excessive info to question I suppose

most of my posts may run into essay length. I find that for a lot of queries/feedback context is important and that is why this happens more often than not.

have a great day :D

I have everything GW ever published for Warhammer Quest.

Note, however, that GW considers any article not written by their staff, "unofficial." And even some of the articles written by the staff are incomplete are have errors.

So using all of the published material does not make up the "complete rules."

Re: Warhammer Quest rules

Don't have the Citadel Journal, Lair of the Orc Lord or Pits and Traps. I confess to finding a PDF of LotOL to make use of more of my miniatures in games, but will likely pick up a copy when I find one for the right price.

Apart from that, my group has pretty much everything.

We usually don't use the Lustria rules, but occasionally seek out Sea Ports just to pick up one of those nasty Oriental Blades (not to mention a bucket and spade).

I did have a PDF of Monster cards for all of the Battle Level tables up to Level 6, which I printed and stuck on card. I find the cards keep the pace of the game, and help it 'feel' like Quest. I wish GW had published those!

I find that my group enjoy variety more than anything else, so having access to Catacombs and Lair of the Orc Lord helps keep interest in the game. To this end, all of my group have written extra Monsters and adventures.

I guess that it's so hard to pick up the original sets that lots of people coming into the game just haven't had the time or money to flesh out a full collection and will either make do with the core rules or run the risk of downloading illegal PDFs.

How I wish my teenage self could've afforded all the Journals and supplements!
