Elf Ranger Mage and Fear/Terror

Does Fear/Terror affect an Elf Ranger Mage's
spellcasting? And what about a Warrior Priest
and his Bleessings? When a Wizard fails the
Fear/Terror roll he has to use extra Power
to cast spells against that Monster.

We have always played a failed psych test for the Ranger Mage and the Warrior Priest for their casting rolls just as it would affect their combat rolls.

Cannot remember where we came up with that idea.
Someone else here know?

Re: Elf Ranger Mage and Fear/Terror

I cannot say I know for sure, but I have reasoned that Fear and Terror would affect the chance caster by -1 or -2 respectively IF the spell targets a monster against which the caster has failed to pass the test.

My reason -- though sort of in a round about way -- has to do with the way their respective rules deal with items which can affect the chance of success of their spells and blessing.

I think the -1/-2 to the roll is a bigger penalty for the sort of "roll to cast" warriors than +1/+2 power for the wizard.

I've not penalised them for this personally for this reason.
(also it isn't noted as being done that way, although I can see the logic for doing so)

most of my posts may run into essay length. I find that for a lot of queries/feedback context is important and that is why this happens more often than not.

have a great day :D

Re: Elf Ranger Mage and Fear/Terror

Ok, I crunched the numbers(if anyone is interested)
Sorry to break the D6 convention
but the maths just came out better.

Power
Phase----Cast-------Fear = D8------Terror = D10
  1 ------6 (16.7%)-- 8 (12.5%)------10 (10%)

  2 ------5 (33.3%)-- 7 (25%)---------9 (20%)

  3 ------4 (50%)---- 6 (37.5%)-------8 (30%)

  4 ------3 (66.7%)-- 5 (50%)---------7 (40%)

  5 ------2 (83.3%)-- 4 (62.5%)-------6 (50%)

  6 ------2*(83.3%)--4 (62.5%)--------6 (50%)

  *Remember a "1" always fails
