Bow of Tiranoc

Reads:
This mighty bow was crafted by the Elves of Tiranoc from a single Starwood branch. When the land of Tiranoc was engulfed by the sea, the bow was carried to the Old World, a fabled treasure of a kingdom destroyed.
This bow is very powerful and causes an extra 3 Wounds every time it strikes.

Do not remember how we interpreted this card before today.

Q: So what is the Damage then?
+3W on top of what?

Maybe I am just too tired today, but some help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Bow of Tiranoc

I just looked this up on the FAQ section of ]The Museum site for you. That is supposed to be taken from the old GW mailing list (I think) in which they gave the official answers to some of these types of questions.

"Q: When using the Bow of Tiranoc, how does one determine damage?
A: Treat is as a Long Bow (Strength 4, 1 shot per turn). (GWUK) "

Most of the treasure bows were a base Strength 4 if I remember correctly -- according to the FAQs.

Thank you OldWarrior.

Therefore, with its +3W, it is then a Str7 Longbow.

I generally agree. However, I think they purposely stated some things as causing extra wounds instead of using say "Strength 7" in this case, because of the possibility of something affecting the Strength...

For instance, the Armour of Cursed Iron. "This armour adds the value of the attacker's
Strength to the wearer's Toughness, effectively cancelling it out. If the
attacker has a Strength of 5, for instance, the armour gives the wearer +5 Toughness."

Although, in this case that I quote, it specifically states Attacker's Strength (not Strength of weapon).
