Shaman vs Wizard

My restriction to the Wizard is that he may only cast Attack spells during his turn, rather than any time during the Warriors' Phase. Previously, he was stealing other Warriors' kills. But, without his healing powers we end up with dead Wizard and dead party. We tried it several times with just a healer, but the 5 Gold per wound didn't make up for the lack of ability to kill Monsters.

I have yet to see a Wizard that casts Defensive Spells or those that enhance the Strength of other warriors. Maybe if that spellcasting treasure making a warrior a level one wizard worked only for Defensive spells? The alternative would be to create a warrior who can cast 1 spell from each order per turn (1 attack, 1 defense/special, 1 healing). He may get 1 new spell per level (like the Ranger). In order to get stronger spells, he has to unlearn an existing one first. You'd have to think up a way for power or mana to affect it (probability, like the Ranger?). Just thinking aloud, here.

Ack, I'm corrupted; I've been capitalizing everything like in the Warhammer Quest books.

PS: I do like the alternative to the power roll of mana- this allows the Shaman to cast spells on a roll of 1. He must stay on the same board section with others or be vulnerable. Remember that if the Wizard is out of reserve power, he could die due to Unexpected Events.

PPS: One of the daemons has a Drain Power ability. Roll 3D6 at the Monster's Phase. The wizard (or shaman?) must give up that much power or suffer 1 wound per unmatched point. Maybe you could make this an Event card, or a special rule for the Circle of Power room.

Re: Kislevite Shaman Mana?

Just a few ideas about Totems...
Wolf, Bear
Raven- gains +1 wound on a D6 of 6 once per turn (scavenger)
Lynx- or another big cat. +1 Move, +1 Wound +1WS. Has the hunting desire thing the wolf has
Eagle- -1 Wound, +1 Move, +1/2 Ballistic
I'm trying to think of another Kislevitish animal. Maybe a snow fox as a lower version of the wolf...

I would also give him +1 Move and -1 Strength (small bird)

Lynx- or another big cat. +1 Move, +1 Wound +1 WS. Hmmm ... alot of plusses there! What about this - the Lynx must take "cat nap" every time he rolls a 1 on the Power Phase, and then rolls a subsequent 1 or 2 on 1D6. During the "cat nap" he cannot move or perform any activity. If in combat, the "cat nap" is ignored, as the Lynx is fully engaged in fighting.

Eagle- -1 Wound, +1 Move, +1/2 Ballistic
Hmmm .... +1/2 Ballistic sounds good to my for the Eagle. What about "Eagle Eye" ... he can explore even if he does not have the Lantern?

To reopen an old topic...
I have gathered together some of the ideas generated in this forum into a document available from the Museum. It is there for people to read and assess.
What do you think? Good ideas? Or are you sick of the Kislevite Shaman?

Oh, and let me know about acreditation of ideas!

How could anyone get sick of the Shamen (except by smelling him).

I like the ideas. The extra totems give him a lot more individualism. I especially like the pole cat.

As for the spells, healing always was a weak point that needed addressing. I think that some of the 'failure' elements really get the feel of the shamens raw, difficult to control magic.

Cheers,
