posticon Wequest Shutdown / Carry on ?

NOTE: I am here copying part of an email I recently sent to several players and GMs (those for whom I had email addresses) in Webquest concerning my thoughts on continuing the games by other means. We will certainly miss Webquest.

Dear faithful Webquestors (many are on vacation or are without Internet atm, but, feel free to respond even weeks after this email is sent/message is posted);

Serious Webquest and Museum Shutdown

I am not sure whether the webmaster will reconsider, but the Museum AND Webquest have been closed in response to the following post in the Warhammer Quest Forum.

http://com1.runboard.com/bwarhammerquest.fchronicles.t513

Therefore, all my games are no longer accessible by me as GM or by the players.

Carry On (?)

EDIT: Since I wrote this I have been working diligently at setting up a system in my OW WHQ message board where indeed I believe the games (though fewer in number) may continue. Please check out what I have done on the first game converted, before "throwing in the towel". At least a few players may want to continue under my heavy-handed machinations. emoticon

I am wondering if there is some way that we might carry on the games. I know it wouldn't be as nice as Webquest, but I think we might be able to attempt such through email, sending maps as file attachments, and/or through the use of message boards.

There is at least one place on the Internet I found that could be used to do dice rolls submitting the results by email to the GM.

Anyone interested in trying to carry on let me know.

Probably only a few of my games may be carried on this way, if that many. I for sure want to continue with The War to End All Orcs. Other games I am interested in continuing (of the ones I GMed): OW Laboratory games, Old Warriors in the Old World, the Fate of Bilbo Baggins and ISLAND WARS; and, the name slips my mind just now, but the one with Jaraile, Attalus, Helion, and Vittor (I think that is the four warriors). These all depend upon player interest in trying to continue. If there is enough demand for any particular game (even for one not mentioned above), I am willing to consider it.

Sharing Resources

If any other GMs want to try to carry on games by means of email or whatever and you have resources that would be useful, please let me know. Maybe we can share what we find out there. I could probably use some of my webspace to store some important files. Also, my WHQ message board might be useful for some in-game type discussion between players and other things.

Here is the link to the space I use to provide WHQ-related files for my players. There isn't much there at this time. I will add files as needed especially to help in any attempts at carrying on the games.

I have quite a number of files on my pc (nowhere near exhaustive) gotten from the Museum, but I will be very careful to post only those files that are not original materials, if I do post them to my website. I am willing to share by email file attachments any files I have that would not be in violation of GW copyrights -- specifically, custom characters (mostly) and a few other custom stuffs. And, of course, I have copies of all my own creations.

GMs can get pretty much the same type of D&D dice roller as Bruno had available for us at this link (can be downloaded to run on your pc):

This is for GM usage.

Here is the dice rolling server link that I intend to use for my games for now:

Also, here is a link to a program I love to use for my solo games, Battle Tracker. I have trouble getting the full graphical version to work, but the no graphics versions works great for me (mostly). Warriors can be added to the programs simple database using a text file editor. It has some bugs, but they can generally be worked around. It can generate treasures and events and has virtually any dice roll you want to do. It is great for tracking all the wounds of all monsters and warriors during combat:

Anyway, let me know what you all desire and what you plan if you want to continue your own GMed games (that I played in especially).

Here is a link to my beginning attempts at saving a Webquest game (I think taht game is ready to play now.):

More games to follow as players show interest in continuing. In the mean time I will try to reproduce the data that I remember for the games before I forget it all. emoticon

I would definately like to continue. I too am looking for something that we can use to play together. Perhaps just using a message board.

This is still in development, but see this link for what I have gotten done so far on one game:

http://com2.runboard.com/bwqwhqoldwarrior.fthewartoendallorcs

I intend to give each game its own forum, so that I can have a separate topic for each main aspect of the game:Turn Text, Orders, Chat, and Character Records (stats, equipment, and etc.).

Damned shame, was really enjoying the two games I was running along with the others involved in. Dont think I'll try continuing in forum format, so farewell and my apologies to those in my games.
