 Oh ok. Excellent.

The Griff Oberwald looks like a standard pose for a guy holding a sword or axe retrofitted for Bloodbowl. ;-)

Thread Necromancy at its best! HahahahahA

I use Blitzer #2 that was released as part of the Marauders; I got him and his teammates years before their official release from Gary Morley via Jeremy Vetock.

Never much liked the 3rd Ed. Griff; he is not playing - he is grandstanding.
The Zug of that edition was not too bad, but still not a favorite.
The basic 5th Ed. Griff was better, but I did not like the face of the 5th Ed. BB27 Griff.
The 5th Ed. BB27 Zug looked great, but was just too big; it had problems being based on a 25mm round - GW gave you a 40mm round when you bought it.

Actually, upon present review, I might have to get out my 5th Ed. humans and see if there is a blitzer among them I would rather use.
We will have to see.

the ex BB player was always a great idea with poor application.

I imagine as soon as you get to around level 7 he'll fall flat on his face due to weapon restrictions.
(combined toughness, armour and ignore pain hovers around 16+ at this point)

I've done a load of modifying warriors to try to bring them all up to around the same power level, game balance is a big thing for me, but this is one warrior I have not invested the time/effort into.

You all know me - the by-the-way-they-wrote-it-guy.
I seem to get along just fine the way the characters were developed.
I am no exception with the Ex Blood Bowl Player.

Mine has done pretty well getting to Level-6 and on his way to Level-7.
Then again:
*Cearnaigh MacNiall of Albion goes to the Pit Fighting School every settlement he can find one in;
*he has no dislike for rings, bracelets & the like;
*And I do not have some ol' fuddy-duddy problem with having more than one copy of non-unique treasure cards available in games.
(That is a discussion for a different thread)

I expect Cearnaigh to reach Level-10 - someday - and I will have enjoyed most of the journey.

with out magical weapons how does he fight daemons, especially when he fails a fear roll?
or ethereal undead for that matter.

how will he fare against a standard dragon (toughness 6 armour 6 ignore pain 7)?

just querying this, not intending it to come across as too confrontational)

Edquest, you are fine with your querys.
You are asking merely directly-to-the-point questions and not being confrontational in any way.
Let me respond.

1) Magical Weapon:
Runestone of Magic from TP3
Undead Bane (TP1)

2) Psychology - Fear:
Stone of Bravery from TP2

3) Max Damage:
Amulet of Power (WHQ)
Lifestealer Talisman (TP1)
Potion of Weapon Mastery (TP1)
Runestone of Slaying TP1
Ring of Power (TP2)
Firestorm Icon (TP2)
Chalice of Battle (TP3)
Rune of Destruction TP3
Runestone of Death (TP3)
Chalice of Vigour (CofT)
And these are just what comes to mind quickly.
More likely than not, I am forgetting other items in the cards and/or in the RPB that also provide the Ex BB Player with what he/she needs to take out the "Big Bad Guys".

Additionally, there are several other treasures that allow the number of attacks to be multiplied and/or repeated.

I guess I have always looked at character development as not just what the person can become but also the "toys" they pick up along the way that help out.

Anything I have missed Edquest?

last I recall runes state on the card they can be placed on any bladed weapon but the ex BB player uses shoulder pads, not sure they would count?

as for the majority of those any warrior could use them, I don't think it makes up for his not being able to use any weapon he saw fit/within reasonable restrictions (say no two handed)

the dwarf runesmith only puts runes on axes too, odd when you think the warhammer background has runesmiths using rune hammers...!

Okay ... Edquest.

A spike is not a bladed weapon?!?
Or does it have to be in the hand to count as such in your book?
The Ex BB Player has three different varieties of spikes to use as weapons.
Are you choosing or excluding arbitrarily?
Or is it just a case of overgeneralizing here?
There is no runesmith involved with these treasure cards.

So who cares if any other warrior can use the very same item?
If it deals with the matter at hand, who cares really?

And there would have been rune hammers if the Dwarf Runesmith character pack had made it all the way through the development process.

I have been reflecting more on Edquest's opinion that the spikes, whether shoulder pad, cleat or ball, are not blades, and therefore ineligible for runestone treasure cards.

By that working definition, many stilettos are not blades because they are simply round edge-less pieces of metal with a hilt.
Furthermore, several forms of trench knives would also not be blades since they are triangular metal lengths with a hilt.

Additionally, does a sharp weapon need a length to be a blade rather than just a spike?
At least one pair of my own sgian-dubh (also spelled skean dhu; depends which branch of the Celtic languages - P or Q) would not be really considered "blades" since they are barely a spike with a two finger hilt.

Moreover, some katars have the bar you hold them with inside the butt of the knife making them a "fist spike" technically.
Are they then still a blade?

Am I making any sense?

Seems to me that this is an area requiring some interpretation or group judgment perhaps. By group judgment, I mean a consensus of those with whom one plays the game. Not everyone will understand the same words to mean the exact same thing all the time.

The Dwarf Guildmasters rules about runes made it clear that only axes could have runes inscribed upon them(at least at that location), but other (perhaps later) Warhammer/Old World background and gaming info revealed that runes could be inscribed upon weapons other than axes.

Let's face it. Everyone involved in making the rules, reading, and understanding them are human. No one is perfect. I almost am though, because "I only make one mistake a year" (quoting myself here)... BUT, my wife says that my years are awfully short! emoticon
