Silver Tower
So, who is actually taking this seriously?
Seen what is in the box, and I am not very impressed.
This version of WhQ has definitely been AoSified which makes it fundamentally useless to me.
The toy soldiers are all well done, but in GW's current artsy-fartsy miniature sculpture style rather than just good solid toy soldiers.
The adventurers are a bit of a disappointment; some are quite bizarre and, of course, there had to be a sigmarine.
The Tzeentchian adversaries seem capable, but are a bit elaborate.
The Skaven assassin's helmet seems a bit silly.
The Goblins are ridiculous with their mutations.
But this is all, in fact, just my opinion.
What say you all?

Re: Silver Tower
And how is my honest opinion of Silver Tower a needless negative remark Dethhead?
Other people can say the very same thing and folks like you just nod your heads sagely and agree.
So Deathhead, what is your opinion of this Silver Tower?
And Sam took the site down for the reasons he said he would back in June of last year.
Some, no, one person, that person from Manchester just did not believe Sam would so he kept on with the snarky remarks.
And poof, it is gone and no one is sorrier than I.
I sincerely enjoyed the discussion of and the sharing about WhQ that went on there.

...and there were more than a few people that did not enjoy your 'discussions' there. Some of them were dissatisfied enough that they just walked away from that forum.
I sounds like you are getting quite a poor reputation in WHQ circles.

I sounds like you are getting quite a poor reputation in WHQ circles.
And there were more than a few people that did enjoy my discussions there as evidenced by the fact that only Sebastian (aka Adalhein) had more honour points at BTGM than I.
This all sounds like I have both haters and supporters in WhQ circles.
In other words, I am about average when it comes to folks on the Net.
And I know of only one committed member of BTGM that walked away after a tift with me that I still do not know why it happened.
I did not know one rule detail about a single character he evidently knew forward and backwards.
He threw some "choice" statements at me about how I was trying to be mean at him with my questions about the detail and connected issues and then he "hit the road" without waiting for an explanation of why I did not the detail.
I am sorry it happened, but it does take two to tango.
Now, can we actually discuss Silver Tower?

Re: Silver Tower
I'll definitely be getting this, In fact I have pre-ordered already and got some nice pre-order bonuses
I think we need to realise that GW will never reprint or re-release the original WQ. And honestly, they don't need to as most of us already have a copy or two anyhow.
So looking at this new version in a separate light (e. by taking the WQ naming away from it) we have.
An amazing looking (at first glance) fantasy (ie Age of Sigmar) related board game.
We have amazing looking artwork and components, fantastic looking miniatures, including the Stormcast eternal, even though some of them are strangely named (ie Tenebrael Shard). The 4 legged Goblin type miniatures look a bit dubious, but only because they're not what we're used to. The birdman beastman look great.
It will be interesting to see the rules, I doubt there are going to be event tables or rules for settlements etc but that's fine, hopefully it will be fun anyhow.
It's not going to be the WQ that we all know and love, but it doesn't need to be - we have that already.
So I for one am looking forward to this game, even though like all of GW new release games, they will no doubt interest in it a few weeks after release. But the fact that it exists in the first place is enough

I did not know this existed until today - I plotzed a little and promptly ordered this as a super-surprising birthday gift for my lady (who has been playing the silly WHQ on Steam quite a bit lately).
I know I'm going to be torn about how this WHQ will "merge" with my older stuff. Will I have to choose between one system or another? Will the timelines seem completely incompatible? Or will I find a way to merge the stuff I like from both and play seamlessly.
I have NO IDEA. Until then: more board sections and some great looking minis and yay!
Final hope: There is an app that I won't be using anytime soon. I sure hope that I will be able to get all of the RPG tools on the app in paper form!

Re: Silver Tower
I bought the game and played the first mission.
Unfortunately everything is too simple and simplicistic for me.
So I'll keep playing the original one for sure...

Re: Silver Tower
I've now seen this and will probably get it at some point.
the artwork and miniatures are amazing, toy soldiers have come a long way after all, but I don't think it will replace my WHQ by any means.
there are some interesting mechanics on it by the sounds of it though so I may play it at the local games shop some day
--- most of my posts may run into essay length. I find that for a lot of queries/feedback context is important and that is why this happens more often than not.
have a great day :D
