WFRP Friar conversion to WH Quest

There are several monk entries. I however like the idea of a physical fighting monk that is a beer stein weilding Western Monk.

I notice in the WFRP 2nd Edition Rules that Friars of St. Olga "maintain the brewing tradition of their namesake, and spend much of their time carting their wares to remote villages, bringing both the word of Sigmar and a barrel or two of the saint’s finest."

Reads like a spiritual version of the Dwarven Brewmaster.

My focus is on Quarterstaff, Improvised Weapons (60/40 defensive/offensive use) and how best to convert the career into a warrior.

welcome to the board emoticon

firstly an observation: I think this should be in the homebrew section.

secondly: are you asking for help with this project, or is this something you've already done?
(if already completed are you going to share it?)

I've been reading through the many monk warrior types with some interest and may well make one of my own (or more, I like warriors with multiple different play styles to them) but I have not been able to decide how to handle the "no weapons" element of a monk very well.

Yes I am kicking myself, for having posted this in the wrong spot. Too many windows open at the time, and new forums.

I am almost done with the Friar, I like it so far. Looking for an assist in review and whether or not its OP or broken.

I have an interesting take on the "no weapons" aspect.

Re: WFRP Friar conversion to WH Quest

i'm always interested to read warriors to review them, I won't realistically have time to playtest I am afraid.

is there a warrior you are kind of aiming at it being on par with?

for my home game all warriors are altered to a certain extent, i'm currently working through a bigger selection of monster magic stuff (armour, items, weapons and spells) and also monster skills (akin to the warriors get, so racial tables for each. spellcasters get special magic related skills)

my personal experience is the wizard is too powerful compared to other warriors and I have upgraded the other warriors a little to try and create a more balanced playing field.

as I have played a lot of RPG's I find balance to be an important element of the game, others do not and that is fine, but for my table it is important.
I like warriors that have niches in which they shine, but not a niche which is "i'm just better at everyone, ta very much"

(my main fix has been to upgrade skills which are once per adventure to once per adventure per title. wizards don't get any so this doesn't harm them, it is only warrior specific skills and not tavern/fighting school or wherever skills so it works better. there are a number of skills per warrior which I have altered to a lesser or greater degree also)

Oh, I like that! I may experiment with that myself.

here is a list of most of the things I have changed

this is very much a "work in progress" so I tweak things as they come up as being OP or whatever

Well, I am not an admin here anymore.

However, I could temporarily host a pdf file for you if you like. I learned a way to do it through Dropbox, where I can create a link, edit it a little and then share...

Contact me through the Runboard PM or email (also handled by Runboard) if interested. emoticon

EDIT: Here is an example: Example PDF File
