Here it is.
Here is the unboxing over at the Warhammer Community page:
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/02/16/unboxing-the-new-warhammer-quest/
Simple re-hash of figures - not a single new toy soldier - at least Silver Tower did that.
Only things new:
The 'card' in it - might be able to use some of that; I will have to wait and see when one is opened at my FLGS.
The 'mysterious' Adventure Book for "Gamemaster's Eyes Only" -- uh huh, right, sure -- as a wargamer - HOOEY!
Well, it is looking like a definite 'Fail' for me.
What say the rest of you?

Re: Here it is.
Presence of a Master is a good thing (I hated Silver Tower's "adventure-in-paragraphs" style quests) but overall I would say it will be as disappointing as ST - unfortunately.

Re: Here it is.
Looks good, though not as good as Silver Tower, but will definitely be picking it up. I don't like the reliance on a GM though, no one ever wants to be one, we all just want to play together!
Even though it's a rehash of figures, they're figures that I don't already have so it's great!
No point comparing it to the original WQ, just treat it as a different game.

True, very true.

That is wonderful for you!

To me, the original WhQ is the STANDARD by which anything with that name now attached is, and should be, judged by.
If GW does not want folks judging Silver Tower or Shadows Over Hammerhal by the actual WhQ game, then "Warhammer Quest" should not be on the box, yes?!?

Re: Here it is.
I agree that everything with the "Warhammer Quest" name included will be judged by many of us on the basis of how it compares to the original WHQ.
I also agree that judging these new games on their own merits has merit as well.
For my part, I have plenty to do with the original WHQ... In fact, I am so busy playing the original and GMing games online, and working on custom Warrior rules, and etc... that I am not really tempted to try out these new permutations. I depend on others here to inform me of what they are like. I will be glad to read others' reviews and also any comparisons (negative and positive) to the original WHQ.
As for new games, I am much more interested in the 2nd edition of Mutant Chronicles: Siege of the Citadel, than in the new era of WHQ.

Re: Here it is.
Hi all, long time no see!
While some might gripe about the new WHQ gameplay, the real problem I have is that it is so darn easy. No suspense or fear for the players is a problem!
So I just bought Shadows over Hammerhal with the intent to use some of the tiles and enemies and ideas.
So here's my question: have any of the Silver Tower or Hammerhal heroes been converted to real classes yet by this community or do I have to get to work?

Re: Here it is.
AndrewB,
Under the Official WHQ based releases, I feel like you should add a tab for Shadows of Brimstone: City of the Ancients. Unlike the current crop of WHQ designers, it feels like the SoB guys used to play the original version and then adapted it to an Old West setting invaded by a Chthulhu mythos.
My brother-in-law owns this game and it does a great job of creating tension and having consequences for the player characters. Excellent plastic minis as well! The townie stuff was done great as well. Imagine if you were playing Warhammer Quest, a player announces that they want to visit the Weapon Shop, and they are handed a laminated card that details all of the items in the shop as well as possible random events that can happen there.
Man, I remember when GW was an actual 'Games Workshop' and had the best designers on the planet. Sadly those days are on hiatus and guys like Jason Hill are the new sheriff in town.
Anyway, out of all the dungeon crawl games in the world, Shadows of Brimstone is the closest to Warhammer Quest in style and scope and makes a good alternative to the new GW games for those that don't mind a theme change.

Re: Here it is.
i have heard good things of that game also, from people who played and loved WHQ original.
--- most of my posts may run into essay length. I find that for a lot of queries/feedback context is important and that is why this happens more often than not.
have a great day :D
